Any of you have a sliding gate opener or something you'd recommend? There are way too many options and I am lost ha ha!

I need solar/battery (too far away from house for power), Gate weighs maybe 500lbs. and slides like butter.

Liftmaster is kind of the gold standard in the commercial industry. 500 lbs is a decent size gate don't go below 1/2HP. Depending on usage you can go heavy duty residential grade or entry level commercial grade. My dealer pricing on a Liftmaster with those specs is 2200 so expect to pay around 4-5k to have it installed. All-0-Matic and Powermaster are good units priced a little cheaper. BTW my business is commercial doors, docks and gates lol.

Liftmaster is good for a residential gate. I wouldn't recommend for commercial or HOAs. Too many failures with new equipment and tech support isn't helpful. You basically have to have the part fail with them on the phone to get anything replaced under warranty.

I found Elitegates.net had good pricing.

I appreciate all the insight and help. I was also told DKS makes bitchen openers

DKS is good. Set up isn't as dummy proof as a liftmaster. I disagree with the statement above I've installed and worked on 100's of liftmaster gate and door operators over 15 years they are great commercial and resi units. Tech support is very good also they can help you resolve an issue within 20 min.

Opposite for me. My Liftmaster opener has been nothing but trouble and customer service was no help. My DKS gate opener is on a 24' heavy roller gate for thee last 25 yrs and zero problems.

You all need commercial accounts hahahaha. To be fair I've never had to deal with them as the end user or homeowner.

I'm going to want to install an opener for my gate that's 12ft wide BUT it just rolls on 2 wheels on the dirt not with an angle iron guide or anything to keep it perfectly straight so not looking forward to digging and concreting in an angle iron for the guide wheel ontop of the cost of the opener.

What if I told you that a piece of metal can be nailed / staked into dirt....
