50 ft across....30 ft down...no bottom in sight... but don't send it! That water is apparently somewhere in the 140-180 range from my readings.

44784507404_cf0e831de6_b.jpg

So we pulled up to this old ranch. Mikey hops out to open the fence and let everyone through, but it's so tight he can't manage to get it loose. As is starts to rain, I got out to take this photo. Climbed up on to the little ridge. To the right of the photo up in the the mountains I see a bolt of lighting hit the ground and think shit that was close! I think to myself one one thou.....and the thunder rolls. I ran back down to truck and get it. Listening to the banter on the radio. We all had to back up and turn around.
45459126982_a51b44a314_b.jpg

Now its raining pretty good.

Scotty the leader, decided quickly, we need to flip around and go down the other way away from the storm around the ranch.

So we did eventually the hail subsided and turned to rain.

Next stop was the town of Belmont. Old mining town. Super cool town of old building to scope out bunch of old cars and mining equipment complete with a saloon. Dirty Dick's I think it was.

I like the fact that I can refill it and hit it with the CO2 and I'm back in business.
Been a wild few weeks
Used the truck a bunch to haul away a bunch of burnt wood and melted toys at my little man's day care.
Woolsey Fire ripped through back yard luckily the house was okay other than little smoke damage. I think I've taken 8 truck loads away. #tinybed

Good times!
No real issues other than had a little belt squeak going on from time to time under load... Not sure if it's just the belt or tensioner pulley
Also need still need to replace my steering rack cause it's pissing from the hard line fitting.

Was pretty impressed with truck having no lockers it walked most of the trail with out issue. on the 2 actually hard sections I had to adjust my line a few times to get it but never got stuck....
That said... next mod I think is going to be gears and lockers. :bikewhoops:

a few months ago. @Harry Johnson posted this thread... https://forum.badlinesgoodtimes.com/threads/harry-needs-a-new-truck-bad-ideas-welcome.910/

Which initially was more of a joking post I made to trade for his tundra. We messaged back and forth about trucks. Tacoma was a year old 2012 vs 2013 Mileage was 138,900 to 158,900. It was seemingly a pretty solid trade at least to us two boneheads.

I had a few prep items I wanted to address before I would be comfortable passing it along.

Always bittersweet to get rid of a vehicle. The Tacoma has been a great truck. I hope it serves @Harry Johnson 's family as it has served mine. Looks like he's already off to a solid start.

Super stoked on new (to me) Tundra. I'll have to start another thread... really not planning on changing much of anything at least at this point.

Over and Out!

E

Well now, I'll run with this football. We put this whole thing to work the very next day (mainly because we were down in Redondo Beach with no other vehicle). So I figured out how to stuff what we generally stuff in the cab of our tundra into this bad boy and headed off to a Christmas party. Once done, we took the long way back by the ocean, and the boys figured out they could take in the view from the roof without getting yelled at on this truck:
1702339791567.png

The next day we loaded all the spare parts, plus everyone's bags, plus a few Christmas presents up into this thing and headed for home. We hit up a Christmas tree farm in Atascadero, Ca. along the way because we had not yet found the limit of shoving 10 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag. (this picture is also in the other thread, but I'm adding it here for posterity).
1702340116025.png

It's now hanging out at home while I do boring stuff like put up Christmas lights and think about ways to spend all my money on Tacoma things.
1702340207700.png

My tacoma daydream list so far:

There's a few little things I want to clean up-
New tires, because damn.
Replace a torn CV boot
Slap a battery isolator (got one in the garage) on the second battery.
Connect some rock lights to the "rock lights switch" (Also have some in garage)
Hack and slash my way into fitting a full size spare under the bed if it doesn't already fit.
Swap in that steering rack that @dwphoto had been meaning to swap in...maybe. I mean, is it REALLY leaking that bad?
Relocate the trail plug into the rear bumper next to the license plate
Slap a decent dust light in the bed.

..and then there are a few uh.. bigger changes I want to make.
After some extensive testing of the whoops on I-405, I have determined that I really want a spring under and some extra travel on this truck. At the moment, I'm a fan of the JD Fab kit. I love they way the integrate their frame brackets and shock towers in one move.

There's also the small matter of getting some sort of tow point on the front of it so I can flat tow it all over creation with our RV. Some sort of bumper that I can hook up a tow bar will have to happen.

From there, we'll have to see how she does. Plan is not to have it over the top crazy, but something solid that can cruise around the desert without drama when it needs to.
