1993 Camburg ranger build.

Does anyone know if the 4.0 sohc headers will work on the OHV 4.0? Been a struggle to find headers for my truck. Headman seems to be the only ones and there supposedly available in August? Any insight would be appreciated

Hey everyone! I’m trying to put a culhane C4 I picked up off Facebook marketplace behind my 4.0 OHV. putting this out there in hopes of someone knowing of any C4 Torque converters specifically FM118 26 spline for sale?. Ive been doing tons of research, I have the right bell housing and found the correct flex plate off a 2.3 c3. I’ve been in talks with Dalenzie and we haven’t been able to find anything.
I would think a custom shop could build you one with what ever bolt pattern and input you wanted. Bonus is getting the right stall for your truck. West Coast Converters in Simi built the one for my Cummins from scratch basically.

I ended up finding a new one from a Florida torque converters. It’s the stock 1978 mustang 2.8 stall which should be fine for now.

Well here’s an update that’s not really an update lol parts are getting painted and the truck is getting reassembled! I plan to rebuild the 4.0 my self I ordered a bunch of parts. I plan to keep the motor for a while. I wish I could find some headers for this thing but everyone is back ordered.

Alright with the weather cooling down I’m ready to get back going on my build. This weekend pulled the motor apart and started prepping is for new heads and gaskets and a slew of other new parts. I wanted to learn and do it my self just so I know exactly what’s been done. Luckily this motor is super simple to work on. I’ve found a new set of headman headers which is rad, and I picked up a PCI radio for 100$ I still need parts to complete it. The list keeps getting smaller. Hoping to make it out by new years but I’m not holding my breath 🤣IMG_6097.webp

Did some work over the weekend, I managed to get the motor in the truck, attempted to remove the windshield cause I was being cheap and didn’t wanna pay 200$ lol the trim was rotted to hell and spent about 3 hours and about 10 razor blades of all types and a torch heating up the old rubber lol. All of that so I can do some cab tie ins and paint lol Center counsel is welded up. Gonna start painting the rear of the truck and underneath and finish assembly minus interior. Also removed the old body mounts what a pain that was lol time to put in the aluminum pucks. Also needed to weld some hard to get spots from the body mounts being in the way.

I believe those would be alignment marks.

Here’s some weekend progress! Doesn’t seem like much but the truck should go together pretty quickly. Ready to mount trans & hang rear suspension next. Gotta put the rear axel together during the week.

Had the day off yesterday so I had some time to spend on the ranger. Assembled the rear axel. Made some cool aluminum shims. I got the core support on. The radiator is gonna need some mods.

oooooo, i just realized why my axles retaining plate is all mashed up. i forgot the factory would have had the drum brake backing disc thingy in there!
what do the ford factory disc brake axles use there????

That’s a good question! Maybe the caliper mount? Since I welded my caliper brackets to the axel I was like shit something to shim this I at first thought washers then we got creative. Made a paper template and cut some aluminum out and drilled some holes

Made some progress, I cut rubber strips for the fuel cell slats so the cell isn’t metal to metal, all cab tie ins are done and welded, transmission is in, I had to get the right flex plate. Hung the trailing arms and put the housing in. The wishbone that was welded up by Camburg was a little rough to get the heims in and out. So I had to ghetto improvise and make a tap. I started making the floor patches and got those welded in on the driver side. I had to pick up up some 90 degree bulkheads for the trailing arms and trans mount cause it being so far forward with the c4 changed my original design. Does anyone know which starter works with the c4? Maybe Marcel can answer this? I have the OG starter that was on the A4LD and I have one that’s for a 1978 mustang 2 (2.8) motor which is where the bell housing, torque converter and flex plate derive from. When I put the mustang one on it crashes into the block and standard one from the ranger appears to bolt up fine…
