Pissnoma

I have an astrovan gear box if that helps, Kelly. Not sure where you are trying to get the pitman arm ti end up
I ended up getting a front steer Astrovan box. I was under the impression that there were only a few sector shaft spline variants, but there are more than I thought, from what I can tell the Astrovan box I have is a 1 1/8" and the pitman arms Rouse had were either from a manual box (to small) or for the bigger 1 1/4" sector shaft. I cut up the original Sonoma pitman arm pulling the OE steering and it had an integrated balljoint which I didn't want. I now know more about sector shafts sizes than ever before, my little knowledge is there are at least 3 common sector shaft sizes with 2 different master spines variants. I wish I could find a legend on sector shafts sizes, IE what OEMs used different sizes over various models/years. my background is more with racecar stuff which I find a lot easier to understand as it transcends years and manufactures. I got my fingers crossed that the wagoneer pitman arm that I ordered will arrive in a few days and will work as the internet said it would.

Well, I hit another delay, while doing the front SYE conversion on the factory NP233c transfer case that I was doing to able to use a standard yoke and put the slip where it belongs, I found a bunch of debris in the TC filter. It appears from what I can tell that comes in the rebuild kits, the thrust washers and shift sliders disintegrated. Luckily most all the debris is non magnetic but I didn't have confidence to slap everything back together without a rebuild. Since im now doing a rebuild i also ordered some upgrades. I ordered a upgraded chain and sprockets, and 6 gear planetary all out of a Dodge Durango. Basically the chain and sprocket upgrades increase the width from 1" to 1.25" and the planetary goes from 3 to 6 gears. I had a xJ with a np231 that slipped a chain so i was interested in making this TC stronger, just didn't think it would happen right now. There is so much info for these redneck swaps on the internet now it's awesome!20241223_163234.jpg20241227_131002.jpg20241227_132054.jpg

Im having a weird issue with the wide chain upgrade on the np233. Basically the synchro ring on the wide sprocket on the main shaft doesn't sit as far down as compared to the original sprocket. This is causing the stack height to be slightly raised like 1/16" and is preventing the snap ring from fitting. I've tried researching this and haven't found much other than I may be able to remove the synchro all together? If anyone knows about these transfer cases let me know, the np233 is basically a np231, super common in jeeps, dodge and GM.20250129_202955.jpg20250129_202850.jpg
