Favorite Picture Of Your Truck

I’ll say that it for sure wakes the neighbors up in the morning and the kids can hear me coming home from a good 4 stop lights away ha. I only drive it like once a week as a Sunday cruiser / 11,000lb hot rod lol… but it basically got a “ground up” every component rebuild so it’s essentially a brand new truck. The OBS aren’t getting any cheaper that’s for sure… and so hard to find that isn’t beat to all hell. Like any crew cab, it’s not a truck without a $7k audio system as a midlife crisis - but it makes me feel like the truck is packed with bitches in havasu…

This was pre detail / shampoo but Im not sure the rear seats were ever sat in. Fronts look just as good. Not a single crack in the dash or mark in the interior. Unicorn garage find originally now it’s even better.

460 taken all the way until a 520. Just got x piped. Trans fully built with torque converter high lock out and all the race goodies. Rear is bagged with 4W disc conversion. 2 owner truck with every maintenance receipt.

The wheels were a test the market thing… and I think there is a market…

Call me crazy…. But I like the 460 over the 7.3…. Can have more fun with it and so much cheaper / easier to work on.

Next step of a motor upgrade will be $$$ and I’m more than happy with it. All mechanical components only have a few thousand miles on them and the truck was fully optioned. It would be a 130k truck to replace it on a ford lot today lol…

Agreed, I used to be wrapped up in the diesel stuff and at the end of the day I got tired of paying to play. Everything is so expensive and the newer diesels just always seem to have something to go wrong. Bought the 79 I had from a friend, he built it for truck pulls in the Midwest. Had somewhere in the neighborhood of 6-700hp, and could still tow a trailer with it. He used to take it bird hunting with his dogs. After having a 454 gmt400 dually and my 79, I really appreciate a good running big block.

The 460 > 7.3 will and has been an argument as old as time. Id say they both have their benefits and downsides. I bet your exhaust sounds and overall drivetrain are fun (jealous), but turbo noises ain’t too bad. I bet yours pulls like a rape ape where as my 7.3 pulls like a donkey, but a donkey that will get you there! They definitely ain’t “cheap” to work on, but keep up on maintenance and they’ll last 500k plus.

I'd take a cold start of an old 7.3 over a 460 anyday. partly because it would make me smile and giggle for the first 15minutes of cranking it, but i love the RUMP............ RUMP...................................... RUMP.............................................................................. RUMP sound of the old diesels once they crank over. haha.

I had a 99', 7.3 on 39s that LOOKED sick as fuck, and only took 20minutes to start everyday.

oversized cam with long tube headers into 3” exhaust with an adjustable air / fuel knob sounds better… it’s like driving a jet boat except you remind yourself every day you drive it that you’re an idiot… but it’s SMILES PER GALLON
