Local Legend Don't Call It An S10

Looking good Bodjy. I like the rhino lining the back of the cab, I'm going to have to do something similar as when I welding my cage-to-cab plating to the rear wall for noise reasons it burn right through my paint.

Does Rhino lining now sell a DIY kit?

I'm sorry I keep calling it Rhino Liner. It's actually Herculiner

Thanks Brent! Yeah I have an X behind the cab that I welded to the sheet metal (along with regular in-cab tie ins). Welding that X to the cab made a huge difference in sound!

truck looks great man!
Thanks Colin!

Got the third member in today and spent the day filling holes in the fiberglass and fitting the lights.

pointed out so far from the kick you can barely see them from the back. lmao

Actually, you got me thinking about it more and more. For safety reasons (I’m a nerd who ALWAYS uses his turn signal), I just ordered these

Just to give me some peace of mind and not to be hassled if the 5-0 are cruising behind me.

Anyways, I picked up the driveshaft in Ventura on Thursday, but they set it up with the slip yoke for a 2wd truck, which is smaller diameter. My dad works in Ventura so he brought it back yesterday and they swapped it out with the correct piece. Spent yesterday doing a lot of hub work. Tightened the fronts, assembled the rears and filled it with fluid. Put some coils from my small stash on the shocks and threw them on. I also mounted the exhaust with three fab tabs from Deeds Engineering. I saw SMP fab use their products, so I looked them up and they’re here in good ol’ Moorpark! Extremely nice father/son duo with great products at a good price. They do a lot of Motorsport machining and even had Armada Racing parts in being machined. I’ll definitely be giving them my business again!

The last of my brake fittings get in on Sunday, so I’ll be able to knock out the brakes Monday and Tuesday, top off fluids, install the stock steering (decided to go that route because the hardware on the fabbed steering crashes into itself and for ease of replacing in remote areas), and it should be back on the road! Then I just need to wire in the dust lights and install the race radio

Looks good. Did you use either set of those springs i let you try at the cleanup last year? Whatever ones you don't use i'll grab them whenever I'm in the area again.

I thought I only grabbed the super light springs? But I won’t be using them.

You grabbed both sets I had off the shocks. Some 100 and some 300 or 350s they were. I said buy whatever you can use and if not I'll take them back from ya.

Ok I have the 300s I may end up using. For sure not going to use the 100s though. I’ll let you know if I need the 300s when I get the rates figured out soon

Waiting on a few brake fittings (and my proportioning valve and line lock) which should all be in tomorrow. Hopefully I can get it all together and bleed the system to take it on a test drive down the road!

While waiting, I changed the pins and bushings in my driver door and installed the race radio and antennae. Gonna cut out a vanity plate to trim around the radio, so don’t worry about that hack job. I removed the diode in the radio so I can now transmit and receive on the usual 15x.xxx stations we use

Do you have a picture of your center console without the panels on it? I want to build one for my truck and would like some ideas of how others build the frame work.

Stoked for you dude! Can't wait to see this thing run.

Thanks Steve! Super pumped with how it’s all turning out.
What color stickers do you want for this thing?

Heck yeah.
Do you have tan/black?

It’s just 1” tube I bent to whatever degrees I thought would look god. Literally no math or measurements or anything. Just welded straight to the cage.

Today was big day though!!! Got the brake lines ran and all fittings tight. Couldn’t fill it with fluid and bleed because Amazon took too long getting the proportioning valve and line lock to me. Figured out some electrical junk so now everything works (except blower motor because it went out), and got it to start! The only issue I had was a fuel line wasn’t tight enough so it pissed some gas. After I got that tightened she fired right up! No check engine light or anything. Only ABS and Seat Belt lights. Swapped springs in the back so it’s now 16” 350 over 16” 350 with some preload and the ride height is way better. I couldn’t help myself but get strapped in and give ‘er some revs.
