Local Legend Don't Call It An S10

you're running a schreiner floater with your own truss? is that right?
how do you like it & how straight were you able to keep that thing?
double post dgaf: what travel balance are you getting with these stumpy shocks mounted low like that?
(compression vs droop travel)

Yeah 31 spline schreiner. Without having ran it yet, it's fine. The truss is a tabzone truss that I trimmed a bit but went together pretty easily. I haven't put the axles in to see how straight it is yet, but I think I was able to keep it really straight based on the height the ends stayed off my welding bench. I think it might have moved less than 1/16" in total, if at all.

Also, I'm getting nearly 12" of bump and 9 or 10" of droop.

Anyways, got to work on the fiberglass. Here's how it started

I hate the wheel opening shape they came with, and it needed to be moved anyways. So I cut the front half of the arch and was able to measure how much to cut out of the middle

I used aluminum pieces to splice them together

Once the top rail is mounted I'll be able to pull the bottom out.

Tomorrow I'm going to grind back some of the exterior fiberglass and lay some mat across to reinforce it a bit more and then I'll get started on the driver side.

Looks exactly like what I did to my bedsides. Don't envy you. But you will probably finish yours before mine are fully finished. Ha

Today's progress:
Finished the battery mount
Mounted the jack handle
Mounted the pull pin for the jack release, which finishes the jack mount
Reinforced the exterior of the driver fiberglass. I will need to touch up pinholes
Mounted the driver's fiberglass
Sanded both bedsides smooth
Mounted the gas tank filler neck

Spare doesn't stick out past the bed too much

I measured the kick out and I think it's like 3-4" per side

I had ordered some 2002 sierra taillights thinking that's what this glass is shaped for, but they're way too big. I'm honestly not sure what taillights they're supposed to use. I've never seen someone run taillights with these, and they don't have any sculpted lines to give clues, so I just ordered s10 and blazer taillights. I'll return whatever I don't use. I love amazon.

assuming you want to run a oem type of housing? otherwise youd probably just run some of those circle style trailer lights

Yeah. I’m not a fan of trailer lights. I want the truck looking stockish
I agree. Stock taillights look so much better the generic LED one. Looking good.

Pinholes can be filled with glazing putty. Smoother then bondo and made for fine tuning body work. Just incase you have not heard of it yet.

Good to know. Thanks!

Almost looks like 88-98 lights would fit
Maybe? I ended up ordering both s10 and blazer taillights. The s10 fits the best so that’s what it’s going to be.

yea not much room there... might only fit oval trailer lights. And holy kick out!

Dont call it an S10? Pshhh, now you got them legit s10 parts on it. Can we at least call it an S15?

Nah the s10 lights fit. Not too bad, only like 3-4” per side

Haha call it whatever you want lol

Got everything painted, axle and third member and axle shafts mocked up (no warped housing!!!), cab rhino lined, tank and cradle in place. Just about all the parts are here to finish now including the exhaust pipes and borla muffler. Driveshaft should be done tomorrow! Stoked it’s all coming together
