Local Legend Don't Call It An S10

I wouldn't trust that lip, that chamfer uses it all up. Replace the can with a king style, weld a plate inside you can to replicate the king can, or get some fox bumps as they have a lip to be used with a pinch can.

Damn. I forgot to toss in the spacers that I pulled from the one bumpstop. One was limited to 2” of stroke. Be careful limiting them too much. It was a cunt to get that snap ring out with it limited at 2”.

I'll just cut off the old cans and use the new ones

It's all good. Probably going to limit it to 2.5-3"

How did those FOAs treat you Bodj? Looking at a set of them for the back of my 4runner

Not amazing. I rebuilt them before installing (they came with my old Tundra but I didn't use them on that truck), and they don't hold nitrogen after two trips. Or something is screwy with them. They stick and don't expand all the way. Idk. They'll be for sale in a couple weeks, if you want to figure them out! haha

Just some documentation for myself.

Left for KOH 2023 Friday morning around 5:45am. Got there around 9am, and met up with the DMC group off Bessemer (about 9.5 miles away from the madness, as the crow flies). This ended up being really cool because it kept us out of all the dust and let me put some good miles on the truck with some fun trails and dunes along the way. I slept in, essentially, a two person tent cot. Worked out awesome. Plenty of room for myself and pretty warm. No pictures, though.

Anyways, the group gathered together and we headed over to Turkey Claw for some spectating. We got up the hillside a bit and could really get a feel for the magnitude of the event. Pretty gnarly

From there we moved to Sledge Hammer and found a way better spot for spectating. Up on a huge sand dune, not as many people, no dust... This ended up being our spot for spectating the rest of the weekend.

He ended up pulling me out backwards and all was well.

Stopped at the dunes on the way back. This was as big as I could get it. Second pinned, just touching third for a few seconds. Apparently Derek found a better line the next day and went pretty big!

The next day I left the group early to meet up with @obaja before he took off as he had been there since Wednesday. We took turns getting rides in each other's truck and seeing how they compared to each other (I built his engine, bed/cab cage, and set up his rear suspension). This was my first time getting a ride in it since the cage, and he did some valving changes to the front end. It was a huge improvement! Really happy with how it worked out. However, he still had never used his entire bumpstop in the rear, so we backed his bump zone comp tube out 4 turns (two turns at a time, prerunner series 2.5 bypasses) and it let him use the last bit of travel.

I let him do some laps in my truck while I stood outside and watched. It's seriously cool seeing the thing you built from an outside perspective!

Such a great weekend! Can't wait for the next trip out.

Right after Elliot and I saw you I turned to Elliot and said... 'I'm stoked he finished that truck. He did it his own way even though most told him to do it different.'

Whether or not anymore is 'more right' or not your truck is out in the dirt collecting dirt miles!

Heck yeah! I seriously couldn't be happier with it, either. I had some simple criteria for building it.
- GM powerplant (I'm scoping out a 5.3L/4l80 swap over the summer)
- 4 doors/4 seats
- TTB, cage, and links
- Keep it relatively quiet (no bypasses)
- Budget friendly
- Reliable

I was cruising around all day with Jesse and Elise with me on Saturday. It was awesome getting to see their reactions to how the truck handled and getting to share the stoke with them!

Awesome to build the truck and get it out in the dirt. I'm not a fan of the bedsides but it's not my truck . Looks like it is working good, even though you don't have bypasses, which everyone thinks you have to have to use the truck.

Like you and I have discussed multiple times before, I'm not in love with the bedsides either. Just what I had to do to make it work. Maybe one day I'll shape my own and make a mold for them. For now I'm racking up the dirt miles.

Hell yeah man. I need a ride in this thing the next time we're out.

Yeah dude! I'm already itching to hit the dirt again

Spent entirely too long doing sheet metal work in the front since I want to keep everything as clean and quiet for as long as possible. I hate working on dirty engines, and the air filter, fuse box, and coolant overflow tank needed protection. Got it all done and covered in Herculiner (AWESOME stuff!), and lined the inside of the fiberglass with 1/8" rubber sheeting. The rubber made a massive improvement in sound deading when hitting the fiberglass, and it will help stop spidercracks when I paint the fiberglass.

That'll be a huge help for sound deadening. Nice job!

I let him do some laps in my truck while I stood outside and watched. It's seriously cool seeing the thing you built from an outside perspective!
Here is Marshall doing a 50mph pass

From there we said our goodbyes and I met up with Bruce and the gang back up the hill at Sledgehammer for breakfast and more spectating.

I ended up leaving the group around 1:30pm to pack up and head home. The drive back was uneventful, cruising anywhere from 70-80 with the AC and cruise control on.

Such a great weekend! Can't wait for the next trip out.

Man this looks fun! Hoping I will make it out next year.

Dude seriously! I'm hoping my conservative driving style will keep the axles alive! I mainly want to be able to get up to speed a bit quicker and more torque for long highway grades. Oh, and the sound. Can't forget that!
5.3, little cam for some chop and shes tits.
