Started out 3 years ago as a clean grandpa truck.
$3000 with 145k miles. Timing cover leak, otherwise clean and drove great. Before the insane price changes of corona virus and the crazy OBS ford market.

I’m just going to photo dump to get up to speed on the 3 year build/evolution.

Bronco rear shock mount through the bed v1.0 was a dud.
Built v2.0 and extended into a mini bed cage/frame truss. Worked ok but if didn’t know then these trucks need all the weight at the back to work and I setup to carry my spare at the front of the bed

I needed a sturdy mount for seats and shifter. Also wanted to protect the cab from shaking itself to death so a modest sport cage was built. Excuse my fab skills. Had an experienced buddy help with the meat and potatoes of the cage.
It’s not tied into the frame anywhere but it’s done a good job of making the cab solid.

had the truck setup as a 3 seater for literally 45 minutes before my wife said “you know I think I will come out to KOH with you and the kids”
So i immediately cut out the rear seat and picked up a small bench from PRP. It was cozy but my kids were small, we did 1 trip with all 4 of us in the truck and it was worth it to me. Proud papa moment.

New front bumper from Desolate Motorsports. Clean classic 90s prerunner lines

Now the rear bench Is just an oversized seat and it’s pretty comfortable for 3 adults. The new front seats are +2 tall and +2 wide PRP enduros as requested by my 6’4” dad for our 9000 mile trip on the 2022 AlCan5000 rally.

No BS OBS truck show in Salem OR on our way tot he start of the AlCan rally in Seattle WA.

Rally was epic, zero mechanical problems on a 3 week 900 mile trip to the Yukon and back to SoCal with my dad and son.

Did a local SCCA road rally with my 12y/o daughter navigating.

Did an epic prelander trip to Utah with the boys. Broke a front axle shaft and did most of the trail in 2wd low with only a few tugs from Ken in the big Cummins on 37s f/r locked.

Cracked and bent the frame at KOH after pre running the whole desert race loop.

Best guess is my shock tower/frame truss limited the frame flex and forced it to crack right at the bump stop area where the c channel is least effective.
Plated, added bracing.
Added a 45 gallon Aero fuel tank. New exhaust

More camping trips, 4th of July parade.
I just saw in my notes I have put over 14,000 miles on it since 8/11/22 exactly 1 year. Looking back at pictures I can now see how I did it.

My front end is currently for sale in the classifieds section here. I’m changing it all out for Desolate Motorsports stuff. My current beams won’t align properly and this truck has never driven quite right.

This truck is awesome!! Pretty cool you got it before all the used car market fuckery too. That same stock truck would probably be listed for at least $8k these days, maybe more with only 145k on the clock.

This truck is my hero of mild looking but can do it all trucks. I have seen it in many different terrains and it works so well everywhere. The biggest surprise was how well it did in 2wd on the Utah slick rock. After his front shaft broke I though I was going to have him on the end of the strap all over. I think I only had to pull him 4 times. One being a trail with a few miles of constant 2" square rocks and another being a 4-5' undercut wall. The other times was more for safety as a tire slip would probably lead to death.
Lance is also selfless and has come to mine and many others rescues when asked. Glad to have him as part of my close circle.
Now we just need to get Chris and PJ on here for Van builds.

Perfect truck! Nice job Dude!

Can you tell me more about these? - "Custom Deaver springs. “F53 +1.5”"

Do I just call Deaver? Are they a stock part? (Says custom! Duh!)

This is what I want for my Bronco as I'm only using 2" over stock style springs in the front and dont want to lift the back 4" or whatever the common Deavers are.
