1994 ford explorer!

Nice Marcel!! What are you using to paint the frame it looks good
Good ole rustolium satin enamel. The industrial stuff not painters touch. I’ve been using it for like 10 years it’s the best black paint imo.

I found a complete 2nd Gen axle on market place for 500 with no rust on it. I’ll probably go pick that up cuz I’m pretty burnt out on cleaning rust off. Only issue is it’s got 4.10s in it my car has 3.73

Do you want the lunch box locker that came out of my 99 explorer stock rear end? It only "slipped" twice in about 2 years that I ran it. It took me many places that my open rear end would have failed. Looks to be in great condition. It was $250 new, you can have it for the shipping cost, whatever that may be.
Part number is.

Yeah dude I’ll take it thank you so much!! I’ll send you a message

More rust clean up work went on this weekend. Have I mentioned I’m tired of it?😂
I did take a break from it and installed the upper portion of the cookcraft shock mount. This stuff went together perfectly. It locates itself on the frame with 2 existing holes and you drill the 3rd out out. Big time fancy pants.

Happy new year guys!

Yesterday I went over to Ryan’s shop and picked up the u bolt eliminator kit he makes. Since I had the axle in my truck I just welded it on over there with the use of his handy dandy forklift!
Years ago swore I’d never spend money on leaf springs again but here we fuckin are😩

Got some work done lastnight!

Drained the fluid and cleaned up/inspected the gears.
I Installed a new diff cover, welded on some tabs for bulkhead brake fittings, and started bending up some brake lines for it.
I’ve got some stainless hardline and will be using -3 AN for all fittings on this.
Also bolted on the supplied lower shock mounts and started trimming hardware for it.i love that cookcraft supplies hardware with correct shank lengths with his kits. Little Details like that among others make the extra money spent so much more worth it.

Still waiting on leaf springs which I’m not super excited about mostly because I HATE leaf springs lol. I’ve pretty much decided that if they’re not here by this weekend I’m just going to start building links for it 😂

If you bought new from Deaver good luck. I would go in personally to check on your order too. I felt like emails and calls got me nowhere.

I actually ordered deavers through solo and they were ready in a week but decided not to buy them because cookcraft is working with atlas(i think) on an explorer specific pack. But that’s kinda taking forever

You're so right about the shanked bolts. Every "kit" or bolt on parts I've bought from well know bronco shops come with coarse thread unshanked bolts which get thrown strait into my random bolts bin then I have to go out and get all the right shit. Inconvenient for sure.

Couple things done this weekend. Progress is limited right now, still waiting on the leaf springs from atlas and some parts from the powdercoat shop. Also past our due date so just waitin for this damn baby! lol
Handled the brake lines on the axle and then assembled the rest of the axle. I’ll be re doing all brake lines from the master to each wheel in stainless hardline and braided steel where needed. -3 AN fittings for everything to simplify keeping spare lines and or caps in the car!

Also cut out some doubler plates for the leaf spring hangers to help avoid any ovaling on the leaf mounting holes and welded those suckers on.IMG_7880.jpeg

this fucking thing is going to be the cleanest & most badass stock width explorer.
(pretty sure you said you're staying stock width?) even if not, you've come so fucking far in your fabrication world. so much attention to detail and it fucking shows.

still hate u tho and gunna bang ur birth giverer.

Who are you using for brake line supplies? I need to re-plumb the crawler and was interested in doing it right the first time.

I buy my hardline from Kartek cuz they sell it in straight sections. All the fittings are zinc coated steel from fragola also from kartek. They carry xrp in stainless but I don’t like using stainless fittings
