1994 ford explorer!

It was rather expensive for a mostly stock trans. To put it into perspective I got my old c4 rollerized and completely built with the best of the best for a “race car” for 3500 from Dana sniff so not the best deal but the warranty is cool.
3k seems good with labor... taking a pulled trans vs having the shop drop it i bet labor is atleast 1k or more.

It was 3k from riverside trans with a brand new torque converter.
I didn’t have to pull the trans or anything I drove the car there and drove it home when it was done
That includes the deep pan and the upgraded valve body and all new everything inside including solenoids.
25k mile/2 year warranty.
Thanks for the info, that’s about what I thought it would be.

Looking good Marcel, I like the coloring on the suspension!

That price for the trans is very good. Both of my last transmission builds were much more involved but around the 6k mark.

It was a 600 dollar difference for a bench build but they wouldn’t have gave me a warranty on it so it was worth the extra big not having to pull a heavy ass trans and transfer case lol
dude that is money well spent. The older i get the more i dread pulling transmissions, on cold concrete floors. I need a lift.

$600 plus a warranty is well worth it imo.

try to not ever use the OD unless you need it. it always try to auto shift into OD and it is spining to slow which burns the fluid and.....

what fluid did they put in? not sure if i mention this but was told by older school dudes then me to run F fluid. but you dont want to void the warrantee.

Finally some updates!!
Got the car into the garage on the stands and started rippin into it. Started by removing pretty much everything rear suspension related. Axle, leafs, leaf hangers and shackles and the exhaust.
The new rear shock mount crossmember requires the removal of a stock crossmember and spare tire mounting structure also so a ton of rivets needed to be removed to get that stuff out. That was fun lol.
The frame on this has a ton of surface rust on it cuz it was from Washington so I spent HOURS with a wire wheel and a DA sander bringing the steel back to life. I’m super happy with it and have started painting the frame on one side just to get a little visual.

Im going to drop the gas tank tomorrow or Friday so I can clean that portion of the frame rail also.
Here’s some before, during, and after pics for progress so far. Enjoy and happy holidays everyone!

Legend!

Stoked to see what the family Hauler becomes. Are you going to be putting in a mini cage or anything?

Yeah. Once I started driving the Bronco it became clear that I should probably do a half cage like Ocho offers

I hadn't seen one done in an expo nor did I research it. Was wondering your throughts.

There’s no half cages or anything like that but te designs has a really nice pre bent / cut cage that fits super good! I’ll probably go that route because with the kiddos I just don’t have the time to do any serious fab anymore :(
