88 Runner

Got it out back all together, Mike helped me do some of his leaf spring magic to it.

H70hds are sitting way too stink bug, took the 2 bottom leafs out but gonna end up getting them rearched and adding weight somehow.

Towing my friends ford up a hill when he broke down on the way to koh helped it settle a little but not enough 😂

Did you get the leaf springs coated or just adding the inserts between them? I’ve been DM’ing Mike about buying the inserts from him. I have a regular H70 set with 0 miles in them on my truck I need to swap for H70HD’s. How much time are you looking at before getting the HD’s rearched?

I just did the inserts, I’m just 20 minutes from deaver so I was gonna head there Friday

When you do the rearch are you going to be adding the 2 leaves you removed? This kind of stuff interests me because I need about another 1.5 inches of ride height in my truck and I have a few options with H70’s and H70HD’s waiting to go on.

I don’t think I will but hang on to the last 2 for when I get more weight on it.
It rode pretty stiff this weekend, didn’t bottom out. Had about 4” of unused shaft

I’d imagine it would because most trucks are 5-6k lbs for HD’s and I’d imagine your 4runner is 4-4.5kish at max?

Id stick with the H70 at the very least. Ive got a 1st gen 4runner built similarly to yours with whats essentially an H70HD pack, and when Im fully loaded for a trip I could use a couple more inches of ride height out of it/them. The only difference between our 4runners is that Ive got a 1.5" cage (and w/o going back and looking at the pics of how you did the rear of yours, Im running TC 9" shackles under the frame).

That’s what I’m thinking, add some weight and run it. I did weld my front hangers about an 1” too far forward so that could contribute a little but I don’t think it’s worth cutting them out and redoing it. I’m using 12” shackles above the frame

Iove these 1st gen 4runners!!!

If you decide to sell the HDs down the road I’m planning to move up to them at some point, hit me up 💁‍♂️ Running an old re-arched 50T pack currently

Trying to track down f67s right now cause I don’t want to pay full price, but I’ll for sure let you know

This may help you guys my pops built his 4Runner with the 12in shackles under the frame and ran it and started to complain of bottoming out I told him the leafs need a rebuild he went to DeAver and DeAver told him f67s are to light of a spring for the 4Runner they need to be the hd pack so DeAver made it an hd pack and my pops said the truck handles 10x better than ever before with no shock changes and when he does camping the springs barely sag now.
