Does anyone know much about beams for 2nd gen rangers. Im looking at getting a ranger for a daily but I want to eventually swap out the front suspension setup to run stock length beams with coilovers using either the Solo or Giant engine cage. I would probably end up running smaller fiberglass fenders but I’d like the keep the truck either close or a little bit wider than stock width.

what do you want to know? i owned a ranger with camburg 4.5 beams for close to 20 years. it was a DD then a race vehicle.

Pretty much anything, I’ve driven an ifs Toyota for the entire time I’ve been driving so I’m just curious what would be the ideal setup to run on a long travel Ranger that would be daily driven.

buy one that's already built (Front end already on it) if you dont have much experience building things/know much about suspension

the rear is pretty straight forward and easy to build simple.

do you already have a ranger that you're going to build, or are you just preparing/learning what you'll need??

I’m not an I beam expert by any means, but if it’s 4wd then it sounds like you’re looking for a simple set of cut and turned beams, if it’s 2wd then you might be able to get away with just fabricating some mounts on the stock beam to mount the coil over and installing some camber adjustment bushings for the ball joints (depending on how much lift your looking for).

@Giant Geoff would be the one that could answer all your beam questions

Thank you for the input, looking around I think the threat Motorsport uneven beams are looking like the best option as I’m planning on getting a 2wd truck

Threat makes good stuff and has been around for a while.. The great thing about beams is that they are inexpensive compared to an a-arm kit, and ill pull more travel typically. Also beams in my opinion seem to be a bit more cushy offroad... they tend to fall in every hole, vs arms want to skip across more. Just make sure to stick with a good brand that has been around and dont buy a cheap set of beams off marketplace. Also another good thing to know, is run the napa blue boot ball joints... They use to have a life time warranty.... They lasted 4x as long as shitty vatozone ball joints.

Great, thanks for the info!

Yea I’d keep an eye on marketplaces with cash ready and buy an older set of used beams. Not some junk extended stock beams, I’d go camburg if possible. I sold my whole entire old front beam kit down to the autofab mounts.

Just all depends how much you want to spend really

This would be an epic time for someone to refer him to GG and post pics of his nuclear unicorn contrapments...........

But, yeah yeah yeah "BLGT is actually trying to help others get in the dirt"...... yadayadayada
