Just picked up a 1991 ford ranger XLT 4x4 with the 4.0 that I’m wanting to turn into a daily/sleeper prerunner. Got it for only $750 (could’ve been $500 pre covid) with a messed up transmission and a few leaks. Once I get the small stuff fixed up I’m looking at running the solo motorsports stage 4 or 5 kit and either some 16” 2.5 bypasses or Giant Geoff’s daily driver link kit in rear with a shell to cover the goods. I’m new to building fords and anything to do with TTBs so any information would be greatly appreciated on where to start.

Update on the ranger, I did a fluid change and filter on the transmission and it’s running much better. The next thing I have planned is to replace the ATF and the filter again since the fluid has cycled through. But as you can see from the picture it’s still leaking a good bit which is coming from the engine and possibly still the transmission but I haven’t really looked at it. I plan on taking it to a shop to have it looked at to see exactly what’s leaking and possible have the oil pan done as I just don’t have the tools to lift the engine to get to it. If anyone has any other pointers I’m open to suggestions.

Ugh Mechanical stuff, I recently chased a weird throttle/fuel issue. Thought the fuel system was done, nope pressure was good, but it would sporadically not get gas to the motor and stall, die at start up.

Cheap $20 OBD I reader and code manual book told me to check the power source, 3 relays later and it runs like a champ again.

My MPG went back up too, hadn't noticed how bad it was this past month.

I hate oil/trans leaks.....post up what you find. My own is wet by site, but not so much it drips on the floor. Interested exactly where your leak is coming from.

It’s looking like it’s still from the pan so I’m not entirely sure what the deal is. I’m taking it to a shop on Wednesday to get everything diagnosed and then I’ll go from there.
