Plasma cut steering clearance into the spindle clevis so it actually looks like a clevis.

Machined the aluminum proxy weld bushings. They work for 1.5” ID bushing sleeves.

November 2018
I finally killed the Chinee Prasma Cuttel V1.0!

This is where it ceased to function:

Fortunately, I got the lion’s share of the lower a-arm plates cut out before it gave up the ghost. The P&O plate on the right is a nice size to manipulate on the bandsaw, so noooooo biiiiiig deal.

Materials: aged 1/8”HR plate & a smidge of 1.8” P&O
Beers: 4 Coors Lights
Time: 2 hours including implementation of CLACTNS(Coors Light Aided Cardboard Template Nesting System—read as: I drank beer whilst tracing 23 discrete cardboard templates onto some rusty steel)
Cost: $250 plasma cutter??

March 23, 2019

Hours: 5
Beverages: 3 Coors Lights, 4 Keystone Ice
3/4” holes drilled: 3
Bends: 9
Plates complete: 8
Tools: Enerpac 25 Ton Air/Hydraulic Press, SWAG plate brake, 4.5” grinders, bandsaw, vise brake, Millermatic 210 MIG welder, BFH, various air grinders, sharpie, Starrett 12” scale, drill press with Ideal step drill, KantTwist clamps
Expletives yelled: 5; including a SHITFUCK!!! when I shot my Starrett scale across the shop because I set the still-running 4.5 grinder down on top of it.

Front plate getting 2nd of three bends:

March 25, 2019

Time: 2 hours
Plates fitted: 3
Beers: 3 Keystone Ice 5.9%—This is probably the best ICE beer. Icehouse is close, Natty Ice is in the same ballpark, but the smoothness and drinkability is superior to Bud Ice, Old Milwaukees Best Ice, etc. Tecate Titanium is great, but i have only seen it in Baja, and not very many of the OXXOs have it. Supposedly it is supposed to be available in the States now...
Music: Metallica: For whom the bell tolls—on repeat

Fitted the main shock bolt stringers and the top uniball closeout plate

Time: 5 hours
Beverages: few Coors Heavies and some hot tea
Fucks yelled: 4
Tools: all kinds of stuff, see pic at the bottom of the post
Bends: 12

Yesterday I finished bending all the top plates and got everything fitting decently.

Proceeded to break the 1/4” pilot drill and mar up the arm with the hole saw. Fuck!

Then drilled the aft side, this side went much smoother because I drilled a #7 pilot hole before using the hole saw.

Duh! Didn’t plan this out very well, my 47th chromosome is showing: (FuckFuckFuck!!!) Had to cut that nice $3 bolt outta there. I know all you fucks have done similar shit, but bring on the shittalking anyway.

Made the counterbored shock boss from 1.0x0.250 wall 4130. I love 4 flute core drills—Totally worth the investment. I sent a 3/4” counterbore in there after the core drill to make the bottom of the C-bore flat.

Notice that I missed the bolt axis on this hole as well, so I ground it into an oval with a carbide burr. Seriously dudes, I fucked up the location of every hole I drilled last night. Fuckfuckfuckfuck!!!!

Did some final tuning and fitment and tacked the top side together. Surprisingly, both arms look mostly the same.

Like how I used 3 different styles of clamps? I should have walked across my shop and thrown a Bessey F-clamp into the mix as well...

April 26, 2019

Almost done with these F117-lookin’ ridiculous monstrosities.

I spent more time cleaning and grinding and was able to get slightly better results on the joints that had weld on the other side.

Some of these welds don’t hurt my feelings, others still look like I drank 8 Rockstars and channeled my inner Michael J Fox before i started welding:

Cleanish hot rolled steel without weld on the back side:

Cover pass? Pulse pass? Instagram pass? Waste a fucking fuckload of gas for pretty insta colors? Fuck you.

Bottom tie-in slots welded up:
994bac4aeca140a963cf0c1cd51abe4a.jpg

^^^I know the grind marks look like hammered shit, but I don’t fucking give a fuck because after 69 dirt miles the bottom of the arms are going to be completely fucked out by rocks, cactus, scattered nuns leftover from @the bodj -led trips, and broken pieces of Fords.

Anybody else like Mississippi Mud? I have to go to fuckin’ Trader Joes to get it, but there are lots of yoga pants and ITC(inner thigh clearance) there, so totally worth it...

Still need to cut the tacks on the rear bushing assemblies and straighten them, then final wrap and weld.

After tallking about yoga pants at Trader Joe’s earlier in the thread, this awesomeness prevailed in the thread for a bit:
You’re welcome.

May 2019

Bitched together some shitty upper arms in hopes of expediting the process.

Tube: 1.25x0.090” square mild steel tubing
Bungs: muffstuff hexagonal 3/4”
Heims: ruffmuff 3/4”
Misaligns: shitty cad plated ruffstuff cheapies
Tabs and Material above spindle uniball: 3/16” P&O steel

My quickie fixture can be seen in these pics; 2x2x1/4” angle with 3/4” holes drilled for the heim locations on the frame side, and a spacer for the uniball spindle side. Tacked that bitch to the weld table with silly silicon bronze.

From old-ass Partybarge: hopefully that grouchy old ginger viking wop bastard will get an account and start talking shit up in this bitch.

Quoted:
(From his old truck, in case you’re fucking dense)

Mitered tube upper arms are so 1997.

Note the notch to clear the steering shaft. Moved the upper mounts in to lower the camber change. This made a few clearance issues.
