Access to Fallon Naval Air Station

A few of us are planning on following the V2R route from this year's race and part of the route cuts through the base. It looks to just be a dirt road that cuts diagonally through a tip of the base.
There is a work around, but we would like to follow the race route.
Does V2R have to get permission to cross?
Will a white super duty pop out of the desert with dudes with guns?

Ahahaha. That's basically what I said.

My buddy called their visitor center and is working on getting permission. He said they were pretty helpful.
I'll update the thread once we find out.
