Thanks!
Carbon has come a long way. Two years ago we brought 6 or so pair of new Carbon bypasses out to JV for our annual DTX meet-up, and EVERY one of them puked their guts either right out of the box, or within a few mins on the trucks. He ended up making some big changes and buckled down. Current day Carbons have been killing it. Plus, it's nice to be able to chat the owner at whatever time with questions and stuff. I wish he used standard size shims and stuff though, and wish that tuners would deal with them, but sounds like he burned bridges years ago in that regard. He's currently building me a set of 16" 4.0 coilovers to put on the front of the truck though!
Logan, what’s up!
Appreciate you bringing this up.
To be fair, and not as an excuse, that particular run of shocks from 2022 was a small test batch using a new seal head design made from HNBR. At the time, we were provided incorrect tolerance data by the engineer involved, which caused some issues with material extrusion due to shaft friction. Fewer than 20 shocks were produced with that configuration. It was a tough lesson, but in the end, it helped push our development forward in a big way. We’ve come a long way since then.
Our shims are the same size as Bilstein’s, and we currently have over 3 million in inventory. We use stainless steel, cryo-treated for durability, which in many cases outperforms standard heat-treated alternatives. Our smaller stem allows for more tuning flexibility and creative setups.
On the sealing side, we use primarily King-size seals. We stock thousands of seals and O-rings, available for purchase directly on our website 24/7, with same-day or next-day shipping. Most of our shaft seals are made from American-manufactured Dysogrin, and we use Viton for extreme heat conditions, like what you’d run into in a Southern Arizona summer. Our oil is locally produced in Oklahoma and performs extremely well, comparable to a Maxima 5wt.
As for tuning, there are only a handful of serious tuners out there, and they stay busy. We’re fortunate to work with a few who have put in real time with our product and delivered great results. But ultimately, it’s the product that has to speak for itself. And in time, it will. Public feedback has been steadily positive, and we’re happy to let people share their experiences, good or bad, without influence.
The folks who really make the difference are customers like you, people who beat on their rigs, test them hard, and then share honest, unbiased experiences. That’s what moves the needle. We've had our fair share of positive reviews, but sometimes people assume we’re handing out free shocks or paying for praise, which simply isn’t the case.
If our product wasn’t holding its own, we wouldn’t be seeing this level of consistent feedback. It’s honestly kind of funny when people think otherwise.
Appreciate you, my friend. These big coilovers should be wrapped up soon!
