still working on the boom.... bondo on all the brad nails holes except the back panel.. and raptor lined them at JustN's and drove home with them in the back of Lezbaru and got high off fumes.

All mounts done... waited to weld in the tops till after raptor lining because I learned last time the thickness will make your holes slightly off on brackets. Boxes fully done, so wiring it all now.

On Sunday I assembled the speakers in box, welded tabs, painted it all.

Then got amp mounted and made my own 10gauge to 12 gauge bridged speaker wires so they are in parallel.... This will give 400 Watts of bass in mono to both 10" woofers at 4ohms (2x 8ohm woofers in parallel is 4 ohms). Woofers are rated at 300W, so this should all work good.

And today at lunch I got bulkhead installed, and main amp power and ground ready to crimp (need to get hydraulic crimper from my brother).

All that is left is the wakeup wire from head unit, plug in RCA wire to subwoofer outputs, and I have to re-do main power line from battery switch so it comes and goes from this bulkhead. God damn... what does someone charge for a custom stereo like this!!? I have quite a bit of time in it. G3 and G4 stereo's kick ass... so it should be worth it, but at this point, I can't wait to hear it.

When running a new main power line to that bulkhead... I decided to run all new battery cables. Gonna rewire some other parts here too soon I bet. Can't help myself.

Shit was pretty funny from my early days of wiring with no tools. Did i just hammer this thing? Dunno what was going on back then(besides hookers and blow) ... but it has worked for 10 years or more! LOL

Not like the new shit is any better!!! Somehow this Chi-quality terminal from Amazon didn't like my crimp. All the other ones worked fine though. Wonderful, one more day delayed. Kind of a pain to get that crimp off too, because I didn't want to shorten the cable...

Where's a good place to get good speaker wire and amp wire? Seems like everything on Amazon ends up being copper plated aluminum or some shit ass wire that lasts around a year. Any recommendations?

Ive had good luck with wire from these guys for wire https://www.maneywire.com/ . Im not sure if they offer speaker wire, but theyve got a good assortment of everything else. That said, I live close enough that I just pick the stuff up when Im in the area VS paying for shipping (shipping costs might make it cost prohibitive).

speaker wire? What's that. LOL. I just been using all my left over marine grade shit. It's tinned copper, fine strand. Oh, I shouldn't lie there is some regular primary wire in there too... which is just pure copper, thicker strand. I did use some cheap RCA cable from head unit to the subwoofer...

I got a bunch of wire from this place in Florida back in the day... not sure if it's a good deal like it was before(they can have close-outs)

So, got all the shit done and drove it around today to pickup groceries... bumpin in the parking lots of course. LOL

@Turboyota should be informed that this uppgraaaayyyed cost me 20lbs per complete speaker enclosure, and the amp was probably another 10lbs.
And the baby seat/mount addition too! I'd say another 25lbs
So +70-75 lbs?
Basically added a spare tire.

my god those cables......
yea 1/0 for battery cables and line to the bulkhead I put on firewall. Fuck it... go big or go home. I already had the left over material from G4.

Old stuff was #2 battery cables that I had made at battery place, and #2 welding wire up to the front of truck. They didnt put any heat shrink on terminals, losers. And you saw my awesome crimps... so I couldn't let the shit be like that anymore.
I will run #2 from post on firewall to the front on my next wiring clean up. Also plan to add a 200 or 250amp fuse on frame rail before that... so it's all protected. (that is also how I did G4)

You put way too much work into that. Sub/Amp combos are awesome

I actually looked at similar ones before I did G3. My brother wasn't in to it ... and once I heard his with the 2x 10's, I knew I had to have the same.

Is that a 8" or 10"? Probably plenty of sound to be honest... but again ^^^ , go big or go home!

It's a 10", and truthfully I typically have the sub volume knob barely cracked. I wanted it to add to the music, not to overpower and just be a ton of bass (I'm lame, I know). The fact of the matter is I have so much stuff stored behind the seat for offroading that any louder on the volume knob and it vibrates worse than a Nissan Altima in a Walmart parking lot with dual 12s lol

Really loved having the new stereo in the desert. Was great to play music at camp...

Took it out for Thanksgiving to bounce the 3yr old and the ole lady around. They had a blast! Burned through 22 gallons and did 240 exaggerated miles.

After this trip I decided I needed to upgraaayed this old bitch some more. The Sierra LED I won at tuff trucks just wasnt cutting the mustard at any decent speed. So, that was top of my list. Been wanting that for a while now. Went with all Amber Onyx 30" instead of white. That way I can compare directly to G4. If i prefer one over other I can simply swap out lenses.

mounted that bitch up with a quickness. Drilled out two trick tabs and used the old wiring... longest part was waiting for paint to dry

And after having her in the back and just overall hating the noise in the cab, I really decided I wanted to get rid of the horrendous exhaust drone. It was really bad in the extra cab area... because I literally dumped the exhaust and pointed it right to the ground underneath the middle of the truck. Yea, not good for cruising. Shit, even annoying when "ripping" to all 5k rpms of OHV V6 fury.

fugging ebay special 61.99. Got that HREW child steel with mandrel bends.

LfNdXatV_o.jpg

Only took 2x cuts to make this. Sure, I could have probably done more cuts and made things a tiny bit tighter and less bend angle.. but this was just too easy. Couldnt get the seized bolts off the "dump" tip that was on there.. so, cut tacks and pulled it to weld all of it off the truck except the slip on part to the old dump tip..

Stuck it all up there and burned the last part on while on the truck. Wonder if I got all of top?... I just basically did the spray and pray Stevie Wonder MIG technique on the top. And we'll worry about removal at some other time if I need to. (gonna have to cut bolts for sure)
Who cares.... shit sounds 100000% better in cab....
And check out that sick ass bluing. Dont worry, that will turn to shit soon enough
