Hope the new fluid keeps it going so you can go on the Sand Hallow trip with everyone and your fam

So transmission issues are still plaguing me. I didn’t get to take it on our sand hallow trip because of it. I dropped the pan again the day before we left to see how the filter looked. It was night and day better but after a test drive I noticed the pan was super hot and the cooler was cold (gauge is at the cooler). I pulled the cooler lines and I’m not getting any flow from the transmission. Everything still shifts fine though. My best guess is I have a blockage somewhere but who knows where.

So still battling the transmission and being pissed at it so I haven’t touched it much.
Went thru the valve body, reinstalled and everything working correctly … for about 15miles and then lost cooler flow again.
I finally stopped being a bitch last weekend and pulled it out.
I pulled the pump off and it looked pretty good so I cut the torque converter apart.
AND I found the issue. The lock up clutch exploded which caused all the material in the filter the first time and the transmission never slipping. There was enough material inside that it would plug up the flow to the cooler. IMG_3800.jpeg

the TCC is so weak on auto's
could you feel anything while driving it?
on mine i have manual control so i guess i could flip it on and off or something to test its engagement.

with the manual valve body is was suppose to be able to be used in 2-4th gear and is activated by a switch. I was only able to get it to work in 4th. I’m considering taking the switch out so it’s not even an option to use it.

in my 6 speed code i can do so many conditions to when and how the TCC is activated.
maybe the switch wont work until a certain shaft speed?

I think you should invest in a can of starter fluid for the next trip haha.

Such a clean truck dude. You killed it.

No longer topless and got the flares installed.View attachment 25950
What brand are the fender flares? they look perfect. Are those 37" tires?
Great build! finding this thread sparked new life into my 73' EB project! I am also installing full-size axles, You nailed it with the fitment of tires, wheels and wheel wells. Thank you for posting this!

Well thank you! I spent a lot of years thinking it over in my head with zero time to work on it.
They are 37’s it has the 1in lift body mounts and it’s sitting about equal to what a 3.5” lift would be, the flairs are the gorilla flares from wild horses. It is stretched about 1.5in in the front and 2.5ish in the rear.
