I am a few years older than you, and been at my company for a few years more than you. But i mimic this same thought. I made our company 6 mil in sales last year.
Our company is changing as the owner is looking to retire, and its just not the same company. All about the $ now vs the work we do.
But i also wonder if we are just at a pivitol point in our career that makes all this difficult.
1. we are half way through our lives
2. i am not as motivated anymore, maybe because the changes, maybe because i have peaked in my job growth here, maybe because i have kids and am realizing its not 100% about work anymore, and most about fun.
3. we have worked 1 place half our lives, and its just annoying and old.
I dont know about you, but i am ready for more fun and less work in my life.
Im in a small town in Northern Ontario with a population less than 60K, we have a staff of 7 total, we are constantly short staffed because all of us have like 4+ weeks of paid holidays.
Last month I said to my boss I need help, I cant keep up this pace. His responce was - "youve been here the longest, you should be able to handle everything on your own!"
That comment pretty much killed any motivation I had left.
Im ready for less stress and more enjoyment, my retirement plan is to move to Ensenada, but that still too many years out!
