The Baja350 - a Dentside Story

Headsets can get annoying for sure on the long days but I wouldn't drive without them know. I'd rather only hear noises that are actually making the truck fall apart vs little squeaks I typically overthink about.

yeah the desire for no-headsets is primarily to make the long highway sections more tolerable. I still plan to use headsets for dirt.

fixed the crossmember tube at the top of the firewall and added two more stubouts for engine cage tie ins.

Looks good. I also agree no headsets are awesome when cruising around but once I hit the dirt I'm gonna run an open face helmet in my new truck.

Headsets are cool if you have an intercom setup for talking to your passenger or not having to pic up a mic to talk to other trucks. Aside from that, I hate them. The constant weight and squeezing on my head gives me migraines

If the headsets are squeezing your head that bad then you should get some new ones OR at least 1 good one for yourself to wear.

There is nothing big ol gorilla about Bodj. He's tiny, the Don't Call it an S10 might as well be a crew cab Silverado for him. Lol

Tweaked on the dash a bit & got the thing to fit back in place. Should help keep more of the vintage / OE feel to the interior.
had to notch the bottom outer corners for the new tube clearance but it wasn't too intrusive. i think it came out deecnt.
OE dash bolted to the cab wall on the bottom, so added a little baby tab w/ rivnut to the cage as a replacement. Factory bolts on the top sheet metal near the cowl. (not pictured)

running a steering column through the original gauge cluster is going to be more offensive, i think.

His updates are traveling to Florida for work. When not working he tickled the tip.

lol, pretty much accurate.
been in Florida for a few months now so I've certainly made no progress on this thing.

homesickness is starting to set in and I miss my projects, 100%

Not a truck update, but a truck-supporting update.
I've been dreaming of my own large-scale workshop for right around a decade now, i think.
In feb 2023 I finally had the funding & space secured to build it. So i started the process with the couny of SD to get the thing permitted.
in October 2023 i finally was able to start construction.
Now it's march 2024 and I'm ~1 inspection away from being done with the project.
Just as a side note - while the inspectors have been pretty cool & helpful, the people in the county offices can go eff themselves with a barbed rubber d!ck. I'm all for doing things the right way, but i will have spent 8 months and $20k on extra shit that I wouldn't have otherwise needed had i done this off the books. never again.

Anyway, i'm soon to be back to actually building the truck that started this thread now that I'll have some space to do so.

30x33 x 10' walls (maximum the county would let me do)
Versatube metal building <-- it's fine, but I wouldn't recommend them without caveats.

even more.

I subcontracted out only a few of the trades. The concrete & the drywall & the garage doors. the rest of the project was pulled of by me & my friends. learned a bunch along the way, but happy to be on the other side of this thing.
