Anyone else give their spouse an idea about a PRP mystery box for Xmas and get totally fucking disappointed?

They asked the size of t shirt apparently and then threw in junk I assume doesn’t sell. A bunk as status steering wheel, a jeep roll cage grab handle and cheap Chinese looking e track attachment straps.

Woulda been cool for them to ask more questions and then adapt the box to a preference.

I emailed and asked about exchanging and they said fuck off haha

Remember the online mystery box trend when all the YouTubers who were popular with kids tricked them into thinking you could get a really expensive item nearly every time you purchased a cheap mystery box.

Kind of the same strategy here saying every box has $300 of merchandise in it being sold for $100. Which already doesn’t work if you’re trying to make money and kind of is like saying “close your eyes and grab something from the super discount bin where everything’s 66% off.”

Probably better to just make it a raffle where everyone at least gets a shirt and an item if they don’t win a big prize like a new pair of seats.

Guess I’m just not savvy to the ole internets tactics at my old age any more.

Wasn’t money out of my pocket per se but the Chinese e track ratchet straps really were what threw me for a loop. Literally seems straight out of harbor freight.

well the mystery box pissed the wife off enough too that she contacted PRP and sent our son to go get something else alittle more useful. As lame as complaining or a negative review is that is the only thing these corporate companies care about anymore it seems.

They did confirm to her that the shit in the box is just overstock bullshit that they wouldn't even want back if there was an exchange opportunity.

So, i put the steering wheel on market place, and the the grab handle on a jeep page, and ill keep the unbranded e track ratchet straps for now they may become more old age / overlander useful one day.

Better yet buys a mystery box from a company that manufactures in China and then is surprised when there is Chinese products inside LOL. I can imagine being on the other side of that phone call requesting exchange LOL
