Local Legend Project: Tur-BRO-yota

I didn't know those tires existed, I looked them up and they're less than half the price of the Tensors. I hope they work well because that's a great deal.
What's the weight difference?

Feel like similar weight. My scale stopped working, so I spiked that fucker. I’ll report back when I obtain a replacement scale.

Yes awesome trip. I'll have to take my F150 on the next one with you guys.
Whitetrashkyle is planning an AZPT run between Christmas and new years. We typically do Bradshaw trail that time of year, this time we’ll likely take bradshaw to the river, then rip North for bit. Maybe take Mojave trail back home if we feel frisky

Is the factory turbo top mount? Almost looked like a holset.: I can’t tell ha.. how’s the rebuilt power plant feel!?

It a Garrett GT2876R atop a custom stainless exhaust manifold.

Refreshed motor with a legit dyno tune feels fucking awesome. Ample power, 12+mpg highway, 8-9mpg in the dirt.

The “mystery grind” cam kinda sucks. Horsetorques are completely flat after 4000rpm. I need a better cam, but then I’d have to retune…

MegaSquirt isn’t my tuner’s favorite computer to mess with, but it gets the job done.

Which exhaust housing AR did you go with?

Really only curious because IF the Dyno chart shows HP/TQ flat.. then possibly the turbo isn’t making more power and just pushing hot air..? I know those garret models are good for like 400+ but, just wonder if it’s a factor or not.

I may be way off!… Just a thought

A/R: not sure… remind me to check again at some point.

I’m convinced it’s the cam, because after the Turbo DNF’d, horseytorques were absent over 4K rpm also. It just made more noise—like a typical Toyota 22r.

This is what perfection looks like!!!!!

Great Build!

It’s a Turboyota again.
Cost: $850
Time: 2 hours
LaCroixs: 4
Expletives used: only a few. Mostly when I swapped #2 and #3 plug wires. Fuck.

Also loosened up the blowoff valve. Not sure if it helped the turbo flutter issue because I can’t hear the flutter while driving the truck—I need someone outside the truck to listen for it.

^^^yes, I probably could tidy up the electrical and vacuum hoses. But I likely won’t. Need to go to a stock-style radiator reservoir. That shitty chinee Amazon unit doesn’t feed back into the radiator because it lacks the “straw” setup that exists in the OEM offering.
