Local Legend Fenderfab Ranger

Hey did you get the bolts with the correct shank? The one looks short?

Finally getting my shocks done by @DialedShockPrep and been cleaning up some other stuff on the chassis. Adding some reinforcement to the rear backhalf bumpstop area. Hoping to get it all back together by end of january to get out for a couple day trips. Truck hasnt seen dirt in about a year, been too busy with life lately.

Sold my duramax so im starting to look for a new tow rig. Trying to choose between a Ram mega cab or a f350.

Kevin is hard at work on my front shocks. In the mean time been cleaning up some wiring and such.

These are a pretty trick little clamp and very cheap for what they are. Looks alot better than having Zip ties go all the way around the tube and pinch the hoses and wiring. Also been using these magnetic holders for flat plate locations. Really tidies things up and its an easy removable solution that doesnt require more holes and screws/bolts or welding.

i want to thank the @Administrator and all the guys here at Badlines goodtimes for picking the ol ranger for Local Legend this month!

Its been a long journey of building this truck (13 years so far) and still love it just as much as i did when i started this build. Grateful for the offroad community and all of the friendships and memories i have made along the way!

Anyways back to normal programming! Going to try to update this thread more often with more mechanical stuff as well. I have been focusing alot more on small stuff lately. But the entire truck was built in my garage (motor, wiring, plumbing, all fab work etc) done by myself. The only thing i subbed out was the transmission build and the rear axle housing/gears.

I have been chasing a transmission leak for MONTHS. After talking to @Klever many many times (Thanks for all your help Bobby) trying different pans, gaskets etc. I believe i have finally found the culprit. This casting fin was hanging down a bit too far and not allowing the pan gasket to seat properly. Additionally all of the pan bolts threads in the case were absolutely fucked. So i took on the lovely job of drilling out every single thread on the case with the trans installed in the truck. Helicoiled every one. Shaved down the protruding fin and new fiber gasket. So far no leaks but we will see what happens!

For anyone wondering the transmission is a Maximum offroad TH400 with all the goodies except the Reid case. Im not baller enough or have the need for something that agressive for what im doing with the truck. Still was a pretty penny for the build but aside from the leaking pan gasket situation i am very happy with it.
