I built a single cab Toyota Pickup years ago with an external B-pillar. Building the B-pillar itself was much easier as I fully welded it outside in the garage, but that’s the only part that was easier. Everything else was much more difficult as a result of the external pillar. The truck was going to be raced, so it required corner gussets at the B-pillar, hence this odd design. The door bars came through the cab at a non-ideal location. Shoulder harness had to go through the cab. Most of all, like
@RW81 truck, the seat mounts had to be below the floor to gain any headroom. Keep in mind that you’ll still have the A-pillar running next to your head, so mounting the seats below the floor will be key. The owner of this truck was also 6’3” and Toyota Pickups have more room than Rangers. FWIW, this was probably my favorite truck I’ve built, even though I never saw it actually drive.
