Budget ESB brorunner

Where do you buy your HDPE? McMaster is pretty expensive so I look on eBay, amazon, etc. but never found a super good source.
My mistake, I used UHMW from McMaster.
Slippery UHMW Polyethylene Bar, White, 3" Wide, 3/8" Thick

And bushings.

I use these poly bushings for the top and regular Deaver poly bushings for the leafs. My shackles and inner pivots are all 4130 to help reduce the wear.

New update I caged the truck!! From a previous post I made I bit the bullet and ordered a dye from JD2. Chopped the cab off and started bending tubes. CA weld and fab helped me and taught me how to use a bender and helped me through the b hoop then let me do the rest in my own. Craig at CA weld and fab is a good friend of mine is an OG MDR racer and used to prep a class 1 car my dad raced on so he’s old school! View attachment 31879
Also thanks to Cole at ERD offroad for helping me get good pricing on material so I didn’t have to spend an extra 100 bucks per stick at our local metal store. View attachment 31878
Once I had the b hoop done I knew it was really coming together and my confidence is getting this truck done skyrocketed (prior the truck sat in the driveway for months, gutted with nothing started) View attachment 31877
Bent the A pillars and got a dash tube in

This photo was taken Wednesday night, all tubes completely welded and ready to start mounting seats, steering, paint, and welding the roof on. We planned to leave Friday night to go chase around the MORE Barstow raceView attachment 31880
We scabbed the roof on at 4pm, got a windshield mounted at 5, and mounted seats till 8pm then we were off! Truck mobbed through Barstow all day without a hiccup (except for almost catching fire within 20 seconds because I forgot to put a cap on a power cable, it was a stressful week😂) got the rear shocks revalved by Kevin at Dialed shock prep and the truck felt amazing. Shackle bushings and leaf bushing definitely need some love but other than that I’m gonna crank some down tubes and a spare carrier and she’s ready for KOH!
Last post I made was right after I finished up the cage on ol’ girl so decided to do a little update, had Cole Edmonds at ERD offroad craft up a little bolt in spare carrier which helped a bunch with weight in the bed.IMG_9832.jpeg
Cruised around cal city for the day for my birthday, perfect dirt and was a good time finally taking the truck out to somewhere I grew up riding. IMG_9886.png
King of the hammers the truck ran great as well finally grew some cajones and got the truck going a little faster through the whoops. Had an issue with the coolant temp sensor firing the cold start injector but was able to still have fun in the truck.IMG_0483.png
Truck needed more weight in the rear so made a super simple bumper out of the 1.75 0.25” wall and stuffed it with dirt. Helped a bit but still needs more IMG_9943.jpeg
Now the truck is down getting an engine cage in the driveway as I kept snapping my core supports. More updates to come!

Nice. When I built my 85 and 89 yota front end's I copied the ESB kit, but with 4x4 IFS spindles. Works good, as long as you upgrade the steering, OR add a second idler arm in the middle of the stock centerlink, which keeps everything alive.

If you hang the spare off the back end more/remove tailgate the cantilever weight will help some< OR fill the spare tire with water for ultimate weight addition, but then your spare is full of water and shouldn't be driven on at high speeds because no balance/slosh

Gotta go with 250wt sand to get max weight in the tube. Also .250wt only adds like 2lbs/ft on that size tubing so not much weight hanging iut the back to even remotely help with the weight deavers need to work properly.

weld cab on bumper, melt lead and fill bumper with lead to maximize rear weight. 5' of 1.5" ID bumper would add 30 lbs, aka Secure a 98lb bag of concrete in the back if you need more weight to get ittttt
