BTF 98 Explorer

I guess I should have been more specific on what kind of valving you were gonna try and or bleed holes lol
We only messed with the front coil overs. All the bleeds were open from King, we left it that way. From King came with .010” shim on compression and rebound. Changed the flutter shim on compression up from .008” to .010”just to try something since they were apart. We haven’t touched the bypasses yet or the rear.

no exactly sure what that is? New to the shock internal stuff. Do mean adding something to stop the currently open free bleeds?
The poppet valves that are in the bypass tubes. They make them with feee bleed holes, basically does the same as opening free bleeds in the piston BUT doesn’t soften the bump zone.

Got it thanks for explaining! I will keep that in mind once I get the truck going again

Got the transmission in on Saturday and started a rough layout of where the new cooler and filter set up would go.

Once everything is finalized I can make the lines and finish up the rest of the heavy stuff. Then onto wiring up the fan and trans temp gauge

So not only did the trans go in at an insane rate, now you’re fabbing stuff to mount a cooler for the trans? I still wouldn’t even have the trans removed, probably wouldn’t even have the truck washed yet.

You’re really making some of us look bad.

Lol No way, most of you guys built your own trucks I had BTF build mine.

Got everything buttoned up under the explorer Sunday. Added AN lines to the factory cooler lines to hook up the new cooler and external filter.

Monday got the cooler and filter mounted, test fitted the skid plate and the filter just clears. Will got to a smaller diameter filter in the future to gain a more comfortable clearance. Cut and installed lines then went on wire up the gauge and switch for the cooler fan.

Ended up with the switch under the gauge I will get some pictures later of the final install.

Finished up Monday night trimming the grill and header panel to clear the fan. Tuesday got the grill installed, filled the transmission with fluid and got the truck running with the fluid topped off. Bled the brakes but never got a great pedal feel. Happened to glance at the booster as I was installing the tires and noticed some rust build up under the master. This is where I should’ve stopped but decided I’ll throw the tires on and call it good. Well getting the last tire on I ended up hurting myself pretty bad to the point where I won’t be working or touching the truck for a while. It’s so close, it’s a total bummer but trying to stay positive. I’ll get the master and booster replaced somehow but not a priority at the moment. Time to focus on healing up and get back to 100%

Fuck dude. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious! Expo looks good either way!

I myself have been limited to only a hour or so a day for real manual labor kinda work. It’s been almost a year now with a herniated disc, and another bulging disc which is fucking up a nerve. Makes progress slow on my stuff, and certain stuff I literally need a hand with.

Getting old is a bummmmmmer.

Hope you’re good Matt! Was it those heavy ass tires that got you?
Thanks dudes, that’s definitely the truth getting old sucks! I’m okay won’t know what my recovery is until I get a MRI. Yup the last tire got me, hub was a little higher than the other three and tried to muscle it up a little and popped both arms, my left took most of it.
