Started with a pretty clean base, 1998 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0 2WD. Goal is to have a smog legal, daily driver, family prerunner I don’t have to trailer anywhere. Having worked with BTF in the past with my ranger they were an easy choice for me to choose for the fabrication. After talking with Brandon we came up with a plan: Front will be BTF race kit and rear will be linked with a cantilever set up to save some interior space. While waiting for my turn in the shop I started accumulating parts waiting for sales or discount codes to save some cash, wheels, tires, fiberglass and rear end.20211019_184538.jpeg20220225_210206.jpeg20230427_094250.jpeg

Found some new 37” Toyos at a decent price from the guys at SDR in Torrance. Purchased a complete 9” with spool and 40 spline axles from Schreiner. Five Methods for the price of four with Wilkey’s promo code. Advanced baker fenders and Fiberwerx big bulge fenders at a holiday discount. Definitely a budget build any amount saved is a win for me.

Top view of the link and pan hard bar mock up. Definitely a lot of moving parts Brandon had to figure out. One thing I didn’t take into account when ordering the rear end was the offset of the center section to clear the stock gas tank. Brandon quickly found some issues with clearing the driveshaft and fuel tank. Luckily for me the tank is steel so some modifications were made without losing much fuel capacity.

Cantilever looks awesome. I installed some 3.0 bypasses with before Cantilever arms on back of a 3rd gen expo with a 9" and 64" spring under deavers.

Who's doing the rear fab work on the truck?

Copy. You said Brandon in previous posts so I assumed that's who you meant but I don't remember his shop/garage being setup like that, but I haven't been there in quite a few years now.

It’s a add on to the original shop, that blue 4wd ranger is in the main shop at the moment.

Do you know how much travel it is cycling with the shocks and springs?
