I thought this could be a fun thread. Do you stick to a single brand? if so why? and what would you not buy?

I own 3 Ford trucks, 1956 f100, 2011 f150, 2016 f350. I have only owned fords except for 1 silverado, and my wives tesla.

I have no idea why i stick to fords, But i like them.

I can say i have never been a fan of dodge for some reason, and chevy i am on the fence, i dont dislike them, and would probably own one at some point.

my past list of fords.
1. 87 ford tempo - would of thought this would of ruined me for ford my whole life. lol
2. 1997 ford range- webster, bought it new off the show room floor
3. 2001 ford focus hatchback
4. 2006 f150
5. 1995 ford f150 - black betty
6. 2016 f350
7. 2016 ford escape
8. 2011 f150
9. 1956 f100

never realized i had that many.

We talking just vehicle manufacturers? Or products too?

Born and raised a HUGE Mopar fanatic (thanks dad). I've had 3 Mopars (92 XJ, 75 Power Wagon, and still own my current 89 W150) They held a special place in my heart...untill i got my first FFR! lol.

But seriously. FORD is for sure my favorite manufacturer (dont tell my dad).

So far i've had a 95 Ranger, 96 Ranger, 04 Crown Vic, and now my current Gen1 Raptor.

I grew up with fords, and thats what mostly drive now, NEVER had any issues with them, I had 1 chevy tahoe and that was a money pit, and a newer dodge truck I got, I really like, really impressed with the power, thinking of buying a newer model when the times comes.

Semi brand loyal here. Grew up in a ford family, somehow ended up with a Toyota that started me down that path. Now own 3 Toyotas and 1 ford. Every manufacture out there has good and bad but i have had fantastic luck with my early 2000s Toyotas. Some of the most reliable vehicles made imo.
I love the newer Superdutys but can’t justify the $$ to not only purchase but maintain. I could almost replace the engine in my tundra for the cost of a replacement mirror on some of these new trucks…..

I guess im a ford guy Ive owned a couple chevys and im partial to old buicks. Dad always had old ford trucks growing up. my current fleet - 1955 f100, 1988 bronco, 1991 e350, 2003 f250.

past vehicles-
1955 f100
1971 buick electra
1994 crown vic
1988 s10 blazer
1972 maverick
2001 f150
1972 buick electra estate wagon
2006 silverado
2010 escape
2013 escape
2003 crown vic
2010 crown vic
1985 c20

damn after owning that many, maybe we should listen to you.... why do you like dodge?
Ha ha I have had every brand of truck; besides Nissan (friends have had them and liked them). Only cars I have owned is a 1950 Ford Shoebox and a 1967 VW Bug.

Cummins/Dodge always work. Never given me hiccups. And I like the way things are engineered on them. The new Fords are junk..plastic oil pans, wiring nightmares, unfinished everything etc (but they look good!). My chick has a 2024 Bronco and it has a velvet like skidplate and like 15 torx wood looking screws that hold it on...then the drain plug is plastic and requires no tools. Just not a fan.

Honestly all new vehivles have way too much technology in them and need to be sold before they lose all value before 80k miles.

If I were to buy a small truck I would buy Toyota. Big trucks...RAM/Cummins

I used to be a die hard ford fanboy in my younger days. Had a few early 90s rangers and explorers, but something about that ohv 4.0 and I didnt get along. Engine rebuilds and cracked heads, radiators and power steering pumps, things (explorers) were total garbage. I wasnt even that mean to them as they were my DDs lol.

In the early 2000s I bought a little reg cab toyota p/u and that thing was AWESOME. Never broke, never complained, put the key in it and it would go. I only sold it to buy the ex cab truck I still own. A handful of late 80s / early 90s toyotas later and Im still a fan.

For heavier work, I picked up a v10 ford and have no complaints. I dont do enough regular hauling/towing to justify the added expense of a diesel, and IDGAF how cool or uncool I look driving a gasser. The v10 hauled my lance camper with my 4runner on a trailer just fine, and after using JosBs 24v dodge to pull the CD trailer I didnt see what all of the cummins hype was about. His truck struggled to get the trailer moving, and stopping it was terrifying! I was a fleet mechanic for years and those v10s were solid (yeah yeah, the 2v heads were known for chucking plugs, blah blah. Thats why I picked up a 3v). Same as the toyotas, just put the key in it and go...

The fleet throughout the yrs [not in perfect order]:
- 91 ranger
- 92 ranger (qty 2)
- 93 ranger
- 91 explorer
- 92 explorer
- 94 toyota pu (qty 2 / still have one of em)
- 87 4runner
- 2002 tundra
- 2005 corolla
- 89 4runner (still have it)
- 88 f350
- 2005 f350 (still have it)
- 95 toyota pu (still have it)
- 2006 scion xb
- 2000-ish saturn SL
- 1986 toyota pu
- 99-ish suzuki vitara (gilbert grape)
- 2012 scion xb (still have it)
- a few others here and there that I dont count as they were just for parts...

I think every make has its strong years. I’ve owned everything truck wise except Toyota or Nissan. Right now I drive 2 06 Chevy 2500s cuz I can afford em. If I were in the market for a new hd truck it’d be a ford 6.7.
I own an explorer. And ranger before that. Building a Chevy, or anything without beams for that matter for off-road is silly imo.

Wife drives a 2020 Yukon but the afm scares the shit out of me and think Chevy ruined a lot of nice cars with that bullshit for many years. But that’s what she wanted so I found one with 40k miles and I’ll make her sell it for a new expedition soon lolol
So in short, no. But I do love my 03-06 Chevys hahah.

When I was in High School 1978 - 1980, Big Foot style builds were getting all the attention in Florida, but me and my surfer buddies loved the new Lil red Toyotas. You could chase the surf on a budget, and then go hit the tight tree lined MX trails all over the state back then. Never got to own one unfortunately.
I've had several different trucks since High school. An 84' F250 351W - 3 spd w a granny. That fucking truck would go anywhere and climb a tree if it had claws. A 73' Chevy short bed ex county maintenence truck w a 292 straight 6 3 spd granny. That thing was a beast too. NP transfer case was bullet proof. Another Ford, F150 300 straight 6 w another 3 spd granny. Always thought well matched gears and a standard trans was the best combination. Knees are too old to shift gears now.
Also had a 95' S10 Jimmy that saved my life in a 70 mph hwy summersault.
My buddy had a V10 F250 in 04' we used as a roofing truck. He still owned it until recently. Great trucks as well.

Here in Florida we never got much exposure to BAJA or stadium trucks back in the 80s. We all knew who Ivan was, but we didnt have a scene here to emulate those trucks, so I never really discovered pre runners until I could afford a 4Runner 10 years ago.
That's when pics of your bad ass trucks out west started showing up in my internet feed.
Once I bought the V8 4Runner it's been nothing but addiction. We are never done, these trucks are always evolving or we just move on to a different project. For most of us, I think we appreciate all the manufacturers when they've built something w good looks and solid engineering.
That said, I will always be Toyota fan.

Not a diehard fan, but I’ve always favored Fords when it comes to trucks. My parents always owned Ford and Mopar trucks and SUVs, but I’ve owned a little of everything. Though I will say that there’s a reason there’s more Ford ambulances both in government run depts and the private sector, than anything else, but they’re not perfect either. After working on and owning a few I’ll probably never own another Mopar product unless it’s a classic. From a mechanics perspective, everything new sucks, some just suck less.

I wouldn't say I'm brand loyal, the ZR2 was supposed to be a TRD Pro 4runner but the dealer wouldn't play ball. Next truck could be another ZR2, Ranger Raptor, Bronco, 4Runner, who knows what ill think is cool then.
