That bottom part is pretty bad. I recommend cutting off and doing new templates out of cardboard. Draw a line along the center of the open tube. This line can be used as a reference point to make the templates.

I can do a drawing for ya if you'd like. Others here could provide help too!

This is what i came up with. Passenger side is done gonna finish up driver side tonight and hopefully have the shock towers cross brace that goes over the engine all done by tomorrow so come Wednesday o can burn it all in and start bolting the kit back together and get this thing out of the garage

Glad you’re still making forward progress! I will join the sentiment that taking the time to get the plates to fit nicely Is going to pay off when it comes time to weld. You’d spend more time filling the gap with weld

You’re right that you have to learn sometime, but when it comes to building or installing a critical part such as suspension you should really leave that to someone more capable.

This holds the entire vehicle up, and the quality here really puts you and/or passenger lives at risk in the desert. Off-roading at speed is already a risk, and not something that should be increased by unsafe work. I have seen better quality work fail in off-road conditions.

Please do not take this offensively, but I really think you need to step back and take a look at some other trucks, and the steps that people take to make them as structurally sound as they can.

Practice welding, build some shit outta scrap, build a fab table, or bumpers. Work your way up to something like this.
Budget build or not, it should be safe.

I totally agree those frame plates were welded in by me on the passenger side but after seeing how it came out my buddy has welded the rest for me.
