Local Legend Vital Designs Regular Cab Ranger

Doh!! Bet you won't do that again. Next time at least pee in the diff. LOL.

Seems pretty fucked they would make you take such a route to get out!!

Double whammy is I literally ordered all the maxima fluid to do it before we took it but wasn’t ready till Saturday. Sooo.. I have it now but yea.

And yea, they didn’t let us take the usual exit of just leaving through the entrance of the off road expo. We even tried to just go past the guy but he got super pissed and was all “I KnoW TERrA CreW yOU guys Won’t COme back” so Izzy had to tow me on the street with his expo.

Is what it is

Pretty close to having all the engine wiring done, only thing that’s holding me back pretty much is this whole PCM maxi fuse bullshit. The stock fuse box uses a 30a maxi fuse to power the PCM, and I’m having a hard time finding a clean solution. I could do an inline maxi fuse but I feel even if I did that and it blew, maxi fuses aren’t as common as say a regular size fuse/the mini fuses I’m using for the rest of this fuse box.

From my understanding a maxi fuse is considered “slow blow” so I’m thinking about just using a regular fuse and worst case it just blows quicker… all it’s doing is supplying power to the PCM and it’s only 30 amps, nothing crazy like 60. Idk if it’s just 90s ford tech and in reality a regular fuse would be fine. It’s never blown In 30 years

This factory ford wiring book I have says the alternator uses a maxi fuse but in the actual fuse box/diagrams it just goes to a regular fuse lol.

The books got random little errors, like this double left turn signal wiring haha

Other than that trucks probably ready to start wiring wise, might just use a regular fuse and send it

What about using circuit breaker instead of the maximum fuse?

Just started looking at those too, it’s a possibility. They just have a larger footprint than a fuse and it’s a lil tight where all the wiring is in the console

Copy. May have to do a separate smaller breaker panel for higher amp circuits.

I’ve got my fuel pump relay and fuse in the gep fuse box and I’m gonna put each radiator spal fan on my switch pro circuits. Other than that there’s no real high amp circuits I think. I’ll look into what you linked 👍

Another thing I'd check is the factory amp rating on fuses is usually quite a bit higher than necessary. It may only use 25 amp but possibly spike to 30 so they run a 40 amp so it'll only trip of catastrophic failure.

Said screw it and just ordered an inline maxi fuse holder, came today and thing is absolute junk lmao. So hard to get the fuse in I bent one, got another one in but idk how I’d ever get it out. Pretty over this shit 😂😂😂

Yep 😂😂

Used a screw driver to bend the prongs for the fuse, so it’s not as tight. At this point I’m just gonna try and run it lol

Not sure how many fuse/relay spots you are needing but while I was a mechanic at ford the 22-23 hybrid and some none hybrid f150 has a small like 10 fuse and 2 relay box under the hood you might be able to use. It was for the trailer brake and rear bed power port

I’ve got a fuse box in the truck already, it just takes these mini fuses… left to right it’s fuel pump relay then the PCM/computer relay, then a power diode and then I’m running o2 sensor, alternator, fuel pump fuses down the right side. In the stock 1993 fuse box the PCM uses a maxi fuse, which I held up in the pic with the shitty inline holder I just brought haha.

I still don’t know why a pcm power relay would need a big ass fuse, and a fuel pump could use a regular fuse. I’ve just been trying to copy the stock stuff, but again not sure if the maxi fuse is 100% needed and it’s just weird 90s ford shit

I talked to independence electric and he said to just use the type of fuse my box will take. So that’s what I’m doing. If it doesn’t work I’ll figure it out.

Couple small things left I’m gonna hammer down on before/after work tomorrow then I’m aiming to turn the key Saturday to try and start it and see what happens lol. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼🤞🏼

I took the motor apart a year ago and did new timing chain, gaskets and all that. Night before I was planning to start it last week, the timing cover gasket started to leak at the driver side water pump coolant passage when I was putting fluids in. Just got it back together and it’s leaking again in the same spot lol. Back apart it goes! Be a lot cooler if this thing had two more cylinders 😎
