The mighty shit10

Not tryna hijack the thread, but sas s10 are for the boys that really want to get down in the rocks

I love the s10 platform as long as its a 4x4 frame. S10 get a bad wrap cause the 2wd frame is a g body car frame and 100% crap for offroad.but the motor is super strong. Trans ok behind that motor, and in 4x trim really a great option for 2wd or 4wd suspension

questions for Badvada or Chancegoodman This looks like a non-ZR2 4x4, which is basically what I started with, since the ZR5 package was mostly appearance anyway.

Are you planning to retain 4x4? If so, how do these front diffs hold up?

Would a ZR2 be a better or worse starting point? I know they have different mounts, a wider track, and some other changes, but I’m not really sure whether that actually translates into a better foundation or just different. Genuinely curious how much of that matters in the real world.

This platform is interesting because there’s tons of information on the drivetrain, but the factory 4x4 suspension side is surprisingly under-documented. I’ve always found it strange that there isn’t more interest in the Sonoma/S10 for desert use overall.

Back in the ’90s, the two Little Mac 7S trucks absolutely dominated desert racing, yet that success never seemed to translate into the same kind of prerunner following the Ranger ended up with.

Just a few things I’ve always wondered about. I will look forward seeing progress on this ride, hopefully it moves along quicky as it looks like you got good help and the motivation to see it through.

Short answere. Start with a standard 4x frame and use zr2 parts. Chances truck is going 2wd but a very similar front end is on mine. I build front wnds for these trucks. Don't want to muddy up chances thread so go look at my thread and or dm me on Instagram @danielson.92 I'd be happy to share all the information i have
