This is the trip that spurred my motivation to get the wipers going after 8 years…

50 dirt miles in the San Bernardino mountains from Mentone to Angelus Oaks to Seven Oaks to Keller Cliffs to Highland. Lots of 1N09. Burn area is sad, but lots of green coming up thru the ash.

LaCroixs: 2
Cheezits: 1/4 box
Flat tires: 1 (got a puncture on an EFX motorally 37”)
3 qts ATF added for whitetrashkyle
Above 6500’: beautiful
Below 6500’: fucking shitty and misty

Burned hillsides covered in purple lupine
A few miles into the trail off Hwy 38:

Right behind Angelus Oaks

Me: “PlannedSon, change the fucking tire”
PlannedSon: “will do”

Whitetrashkyle’s sleeper explorer is fucking sweet. Fucking thing parties!

Really cool picture with you guys looking over the clouds 👌

Did you guys run into any locked gates up there? Last time I was up that way we were about to drop in behind bear mountain and the gate was locked…. Just had to get a little creative to get around it lol

Cool ass truck 🤘🏻 what was the windshield wiper issue? Getting the links to work around the cage?

We wanted to take Clark’s Grade up to Big Bear and eat at the German deli up there, but the fucking gate was locked. The forest service is gay.

Wipers: I have 4 tubes going thru the firewall, and as it turns out, that’s exactly where the wiper linkages want to be. Shortened both long rods, added 69 bends, moved the drivers side inboard by 4”, added a 1/4” heim at the motor arm, and used lots of profanity,

I guess I got lucky on my Tacoma with 4 tubes through firewall. Outer ones are wide so no problem. Inner ones were low enough a bend on linkages over them and they cleared.

On a ranger I ran a linkage connecting the arms above the cowl and it worked. Guy wouod just hookup the linkage when it rained since he had driver wiper anyways without it.

I used a 1/4” heim at the motor side. No pics of that—fuck you.

Shortened the drivers side by 4” and the passenger side by 1.75”.

I used 89-95 linkages and pivots off AccidentSon’s yota because my 84-88 linkages were missing the drivers side wiper pivot chingadera.

I have now rendered my rear hood pins useless, so I’m gonna use bolts into a captive nut on the cowl instead I guess…

Shock guards
Materials: 0.040” polyurethane sheet from McMaster-Carr 8787K833, hose clamps, wire ties
Tools: scissors, 1/4” punch, hammer, 5/16” nut driver
Time: 1 hour
Music: slayer, Johnny cash, Pantera
LaCroix consumption: moderate; 2 Tangerine, 1 Lemoncello

Every forward facing surface aft of the front wheels gets absolutely annihilated by rocks and is covered with chips and dings.

If I did more cars and coffee & supersickprerunnerBro takeover events my truck wouldn’t constantly be rock blasted to fuck.
