Project 69

Pulled the pan and fucking Randy, you fucked me.
I hope you get the monster shits in the middle of the night and you stab your toe running to the toilet and you have to make the hard choice of, do I stop and scream while shitting on the floor? or just take the pain like a bitch and make it to the toilet that I superglued the lid down on, fuck.
Randy forgot to tighten my connecting rod bolt and the piston learned to do not piston things like laser etching a cylinder head with the words Made in the USA.
That rod bearing gets to go home and tell his parents what that mean Catholic priest did to him.

Took the engine apart and surprisingly everything looked good so I got 69 cans of brake cleaner and cleaned out all the oil passages. Got a new connecting rod and new set of bearings, reinstalled everything, torqued everything to correct spec, installed the engine, filled it again with expensive break in oil and it fired right up like nothing ever happened. Like we didn't just have a big argument, no care in the world, not even a sorry daddy, nothing. I'm starting to think that this chick is toxic.

Fire Randy!
I know right? I took the engine to a reputable shop to get it built right and this shit happens. They did all the machine work so I figure they can finish assembling it, but no. They even forgot to put the barbell in, I only found out because I pulled of the cover to install a billet barbell and it was missing. I guess that was my first sign.

No time to cry. I decided to use the KC lights as my rear turn signals, daytime running lights that will be dimmed and brake lights that are wired to a pressure sensor on the brake line. I found a company on the interwebs and payed them to wrap the license plate in black and yellow so that it looks original.

Not gonna lie here, its not the roomiest by todays standard, or any standard that I can think of but since it's a 2 seater now it fits me and another person just fine. I mean my last passenger was 300lbs, no names but it rhymes with turbo. The seats sit lower and further back than stock. The roof rack that will house the RTT is in design, I'm actually thinking about a 2 person tent cot.
Fuck you, I’m not 300lbs, you foreign fuck!

Now that we are officially road legal we went to the hills to have some fun and to do some shock tuning. Turboyota in tow in fat Jeff's 4Runner as the official photographer and videographer.

Got these carbon fiber fender flares and window scoops. After some trimming they fit really nice, installed the fender with 1/4-20 riv-nuts and the window scoops I just drilled and tapped straight into the window seal with 8-32 black button head screws. Next I will be making an air diverter for the window scoops so that the air goes through the rear shocks and into the radiator.

The same company also make rear windows out of carbon fiber, didn't know that was a thing, weird. Anyways, installed it the same way that the window scoops with the 8-32 button head screws and cut a giant hole in the middle for, you guessed it, louvers. Even the louvers got the same treatment, drilled and threaded right into the carbon fiber rear window that is about .250 thick, not sure why, maybe because I asked them to make it thick for me. Anywhoos, I have LOUVERS, so happy, by far the best thing on the whole car.

Basically an IROC-Z now

Awesome work, all of it! Oh man, I'd be so pissed if my new motor failed because of an over site from a builder, good on you for pushing through. I really like the contrast between the white body and the carbon panels. Kind of works with the contrast of the old body and the new shiny parts.

Very cool bug! 15 year old me would have been 6 to midnight forsure. Well 32 year old me is right there with him lol

I’ve got a soft spot for vw’s. My first car was a 1970 bug that I got to learn to fab on.
This picture was before I blew up the motor for the 278th time….

It was kind of a pile 😂 but me and @Bpbuilt had fun with it.

This picture was and still is on the wall of my parents garage

Are you going to do a vintage AC or something similar?

Thank you. Yes the plan is to have AC in the near future. Right now it has a 12V heater from a van that works great. I'll post some more updates soon
