Hey ya'll If anyone is doing the OG 500 this year and needs any help (from welding a broken hooptie back together) or a yard to camp in. I'm in Bend and always down to help. Been to busy working to get a hooptie together this year but if you never have, you should, its such a good time.

I didn't. I saw tons of rigs around town and ran some roads with my kid in his prerunner but didn't go to gambler town.

Heck ya! I do a bunch of the PLS (Public land stewards of Bend) trial clean ups. It started as a clean up organized by the local off road club and has grown into a amazing (and huge)community effort. I know PLS does a lot with the Sons of Smokey (gambler crew) its awesome what they do. Oregon is 53% public land (off-road paradise) and we are doing all we can to keep it open.

Just going to drop this nugget in here for those brave enough to get to OG Gamber500 this year. dates are June 21-23 2024 its always a good time! been my go to since 2019, but had tickets to go since 2018. in case anyone wants to make it up to the Redmond Oregon Fairgrounds. and tickets can still be gotten at https://www.gambler500.com/

I met the PLS guys last year when I was visiting family in bend. They took me out to china hat? to show me what they are up against and its unreal. Great group of guys though.

China Hat is a great area. heck most of that area is absolutely amazing, both for off-road, or hunting, some beautiful country to just go explore! and yes.

and speaking of public lands, the forestry service told me and a few other guys as we were pulling a boat out that we are able to clear in a weekend as much trash as they pull out of the woods in 5years. because of the way the system works.

that does not surprise me at all. Its crazy how much the gov tie the hands of the employees with red tape to get stuff done. Its just sad that the public lands are so abused up there.

yeah one guy was saying we just go and clean it up, they have to put it on a list assign a crew to the work, and then get all the supplies to clean it up. and transportation and that can take weeks to months to get it together... there was a boat dumped in front of a trail head in 2022, that was on a "list" and had been there for a few months. we cut it into a few pieces and took it into "Gamblertown" in the bed of a truck, on the roof of an old legacy and a few other trucks. but we use the Sons of Smokey app, that allows for a pin to mark trash and abandoned things. but marked it got a few others and took it out of there. we might not be back in the Redmond area next year we have cleaned most of the trash up. now its mostly just "encampments" that we aren't supposed to mess with because we cant steal "urban campers" things.

@BigCountry762x39 you going to OG this year? I'll be there with a buddy in a 2000's white F450 with a dump bed and flags. Be rad to meet up! I think we may do the Grassland cleanup on Saturday (9am leaving from Gamblertown)
Oh 100% I won't be in the tacoma but I'll be in my Hyundai. As I feel the Sirch and Rascue is way over kill. Though I've followed my friends long travel T4R all over I'll keep and eye out for you though
