Ya i already bought the desolate ones. wish i would have bought the longer versions but they will work. these were only 3/16" and started deforming the holes, i feel much better with the 1/4".What lug nuts are you going to run on those wheels with 5/8" studs? Guessing desolate lug nuts.
I ran these on my tacoma and never had a problem with them and method wheels, drilled for 5/8" studs. I'm a cheap ass though and desolate didn't have their lug nuts back then and I wasn't Kibbe rich.

Im less worried about the pivots (like you said i can punch into the cage). im more worried about destroying the tailgate as that seems like the weak link to me. I like the idea of tying into the bumper somehow with a rubber bushing, anyone have an example of how that would look?most people end up putting a swinger on the bumper as the factory mount tends to destroy itself over time with anything bigger than a 33" tire.
If you want to keep the factory mount/style, you could look at running tubes through the body and connect it to the cage. Then you can build a swinger with larger diameter tubing than the factory one.
