His first steering rack actually cracked right by the seal. And had a massive amount of play inside the rack itself.
We put in a refurbished rack from Napa and it started leaking at the passenger seal within the first 15 miles of it being used in the desert.
Just kept topping off the fluid and drove it.
Same leaky rack over Presidents weekend, he hit a rain rut on the passenger side pretty hard and bent the tie rod.
So I put a new Oreillys tie rod on. Oreilys was the only place that had one in stock. So I went with it.
This was the first trip on this brand new tie rod and on this jump it ripped the ball out of the coupling. Puked the fluid out of the rack. So I'm pretty sure this rack is cracked too.
But since Mikey at the FabLab caged the truck and did the link killer kit with the Camburg rear end last year. The truck is now getting driven way harder than it ever has.
HIs plan was to have the FabLab V8 and beam it this summer/fall. But unfortunately that's on hold until next year. Dumb IRS wants their tax money.
So now I need to check too see if he wants to spend the money on a clevis kit from Camburg and a rack saver from TNT fab. Just to get it through until next year.
