Wannabe Go fast solid axle taco

Also made a new door for the Camper before the rubicon. Along with redid the plumbing with pex and new flooring. Thinking of maybe selling it and going to a hard side camper.

And then some odd projects I’ve been doing. Made a cradle for one of the Amazon fridges. A stand for the bead roller. Welded on a winch plate for a guy that rents trailers along with a way to put some aluminum ramps in the factory spot. I made the trailer box for him a few months ago.

Another good trail hero. It was super hot so not much wheeling. Ran a new trail called sanitarium. It was hard and lots of 3 wheel action. Trans definitely got hot and puked some fluid and melted the shifter cable again. And backed into a sand wall but no real damage. Dads jeepster took some minor damage but all fixableIMG_7351.jpegIMG_7353.jpegIMG_7352.jpegIMG_7354.jpegIMG_7357.jpegIMG_7349.jpeg

How hard is it to replace the shifter cable - are you running a gated shifter or are you referring to the kickdown cable (you even have a kickdown cable - they may have disappeared in 99-00).

Where on the cable is it melting? have you tried wrapping it in dei/whoevers heat sleeve stuff?

If it is at the end, can you grab a threaded rod and use that to push the cable sheath away from the heat source?

Pretty easy. It’s just a push pull cable from a winters/artcarr shifter. Second one I’ve gone through because it runs so close to the exhaust.

It’s not necessarily melting. It’s heating up the Teflon or whatever is inside the cable that keeps it sliding smooth and just makes it hard/sticky. I thought I had a picture but can’t find it. I wrapped this last one I put in with some heat shield but it runs right next to the exhaust (which is also wrapped).

I may try and make a heat shield with some heat tape to see if that helps. This one only lasted maybe 8 months but sand hollow this week was 100 degree days everyday which doesn’t help. I’m sure if the weather was cooler, it would have lasted. Everything was just heat soaked.

Winter 4x4 jamboree this week. Smashed the rear tube under the passenger bed side. Little damage but used my dad’s winch to pull it back down. Truck worked good besides the transmission leaking despite just changing the oil pan. Guess I’ll have to look further to find the leak.IMG_8391.jpegIMG_8393.jpegIMG_8394.jpegIMG_8395.jpegIMG_8399.jpegIMG_8405.jpegIMG_8406.jpegIMG_8409.jpeg

Koh was insane. Trip of a life time honestly when I look back at it with my dad which says something because we do a lot of trips together. Trailer worked great. We ran out of fresh water on the 3rd day but the camp next to use was leaving and let us take their extra since they where going home. Every racer we talked to and every car we looked at, everyone was super helpful and answered my million questions. I’ve been to koh a twice to watch but was years ago and once to wheel for thanksgiving but seeing the race now it’s pretty insane. The pace they are doing through the rocks is just fast. Got lots of ideas and lots of motivation to get working and spend some money lol.

We got there Wednesday. Walked the emc tech Thursday and watched some of the utv race. Watched the emc race from chocolate thunder and the 4400 race from the end of tach hammer.

We stayed till the following Tuesday and ran the race course from laser nut alley to the start of jackhammer. We attempted outer limits after finding remote pit 2 but it was so dug up and there wasn’t many people left. Monday we met up with some friends and ran sledge which was good. The trails are pretty insane. Different kind of hard than what I’m used to wheeling. Hoping to spend more time out there wheeling.IMG_3977.jpegIMG_3967.jpegIMG_8641.jpegIMG_8627.jpegC15B7E82-4C85-448A-8D48-6070EC975817.jpegIMG_8556.jpegIMG_8553.jpegIMG_8549.jpeg
