Good morning! I could really use some advice from anyone that has done TTB swaps and/or has some useful knowledge on beam pivot setups.
Here's my situation:
I'm D44 TTB swapping my Cherokee. JAX motorsports no longer sells the crossmember but I found a guy who just started building his own d44 ttb crossmembers for XJ's and I went ahead and bought one. It's made to run stock beams; no C & T needed. I just finished tacking it all together and found out that the beam pivot mounts are further apart than stock. Specifically, the mounts have a 14.0" spread perpendicular to the frame, whereas stock D44 crossmembers have a 12.680" spread. So about an inch and a quarter wider than stock. I don't mind if my track width is a little narrower than stock but obviously want to make sure the suspension will cycle correctly before I begin welding this crossmember to my truck.
I messaged the builder and he said the beams cycle fine but he has NOT cycled them with the axle shafts / 3rd member yet. So I'm concerned that either the slip yoke is going to bottom out, the u-joint is going to bind, or the 3rd member is going to hit the beam pivot. 1.32" narrower seems like a lot to me but I have no experience in this area.
Those with more TTB wisdom than me - do you think this will work out, OR should I adjust the pivot mounts back to stock width? This setup is supposed to run stock beams and axle shafts, and I really don't want to deal with custom sized shafts / joints or anything like that. Any help is appreciated!
