Welp, With the growing family a few years back. It became apparent that The Mouse ( https://badlinesgoodtimes.xenforo.cloud/threads/toyotally-awesome-94-pickup.6/) wasn't going to fit the squad. Going over all the options in my head changing my mind 300 times. Talking about building Tacoma, getting a full-size. Doing a solid axle swap on Tacoma.. getting a 1st gen 4runnner... kept popping up...

Sometime last year I was talking with my buddy Sean at Empire Fab about the 4 runner that he's had forever. I told him I was interested. The thing was sweet, super clean body, elockers, HD axles, the only thing it didn't have any drive train or interior. No problem I've got the 3RZ chilling in the garage out of @sdecurti 4runner.Quick motor swap/ score some interior this thing will be on the road in no time.... A few months went by and the reality of I have minimal free time to work on the trucks I already have set in for me. #dadlyfe Bummed I called my buddy back and told him I was scared and just didn't have time to take something like this beauty on.

I needed something that was running/driving. So facebook marketplace I went. After multiple failed attempts to purchase vehicles, finally in beautiful Pamona, CA this bad by popped up. I hit the dude up he responded in a few mins. Loaded the squad in the car and headed down to take a look.

not sure if it was all the stickers that sold me or what but..... Cruised 70 mph all the way back home no issues.

All of this will be coming out... and replaced with a Switch pros that I've had chillin last few years.

What other sub par shit we got going here?
Let me what else? oh yea the Powersteering pump, Pinion seal, Trans, Valve cover gasket... all absolutely puking fluid....
Motor mounts/trans mount for lack of a better term are pretty fawked.
There's a random check engine light that's coming on while on the freeway cruising at the same RPM and when will go out once you change RPM ? Seem legit...
Back window won't roll down....
She smokes quite a bit.

I'm sure there is some more I'm forgetting.

🤡🤡
GOOD

For the back window... Make sure there is a bolt in the 2nd from the back hole on the driver side. Make sure it is the factory one or at least the same length. There is a micro switch that bolt hits that allows the window to go up/down when the top is on. Also stops it from going up when top is off.

Thanks, It's almost comical how many different things will make the window not work . I've got it sorted now. more on that in a bit...

So first thing was first... Pulled the tint off of front windows deleting all those stickers.

Started messing with the rear window.. got it down but wouldn't go back up.
@Dsrtrcr01 mentioned Toyota put a bunch of safeguards in place to make sure window wouldn't roll down unless everything was just right.

At first, I thought it was the switch, so hit up a couple of places and they wanted I think it was like 60 or 70 bucks for the switch...

so I pulled it out to find 9 butt connectors. 9! some how after testing switch it works ? going to get a rewire for sure

After some research on the interwebs, I ended up just grounding the switc and bypassed the safeguards and now it works like a champ as long as the key is on... I think I'll eventually just wire it to the battery as it's annoying to have to fumble around with the key to roll the window up or down.

Something I also need to sort.

- The Key from the rear will roll the window up but not down.

Next task was obviously installing some LED lights rather than fixing something important. 🤡🤡🤡🤡

These are bad ass little lights but def a work light rather than a front bumper light. While they probably throw enough light for how fast this Jalapy is gunna be going. I'll probably put something else on the bumper down the road.

Hit me up when you decide to go out to Miller I haven't been out there for years
Will do man!

So we had a camping trip coming up and I wanted to be able to drag the 4 runner out with the motorhome. So I brought it over to Mikey @ the fab lab . He got me dialed in with some tow bar attachment points.

He also modded the tow bar mount that I use for the mouse...

While he had it on the lift he noticed that I almost lost a back wheel on the way over .🤡🤡🤡🤡 the rear wheel spacer was apparently super loose and about to fall off. Certainly didn't notice it being loose at all when I was on my way over driving 70 mph on the freeway... Safety Third folks.

Had them install a Magnaflow muffler the @GimmeSand had given me for The mouse to delete the Fart can Exhaust that was on there bummed I don't think I have any photos of that thing but it was YUGE and made this fire breathing 22re sounds like a Honda Civic

Mikey let me know. The rear brakes were pretty much done and I should do the wheel bearings and seals after the loose spacer.
Deleted the wheel spacer as it was pretty wallowed out. Drove it back home and into the garage...but first had to get a photo...

She's tight but it fits
51885499696_4a1e53c5bc_b.jpg

FIrst thing, before I pulled it into the garage was power washing the shit out of the whole truck. Swapping out the blow out motor mount
Picked up some Ruff Stuff solid motor mounts
51885577403_0110b9b7f2_b.jpg

Got the mounts out on the Pass side... installed the new one on the first night A few days later came back for some more fun and got the old mount out. confirmed it was ripped in half....got the new mount in there and first bolt start pretty quickly and then proceed to fuck around with getting the 2nd bolt line up the next few nights. with some huge channel locks, I was able to get it close enough to get a punch in and could not get the front bolt on the driver side to line up enough. But even with help of my father-in-law, we couldn't get it to go... So naturally, I broke out the round file and shaved a bit down. Finally got it done... Tighten everything back up. Stoked to have that out of the way

Solid mounts for sure make for some good vibrations in the cab but nothing I'm not used to with The Mouse.
Right away I could tell with the shifter not moving all over the place when I stepped on the gas. Sweet now on to the power steering pump...

Got that puppy swapped out pretty quick Fixed one of the 4 leaks I've got going

Next up was the Pinon seal.

This went too smooth was almost as if I knew what I was doing. Much to my surprise the pinion flange just popped right off no puller needed? the seal was a real beauty.. .

if the vibes are too much, get a stock motor mount and weld some chain to is. the key is to have a small amount of slack in the chain so it less the mount do its thing, but will keep it from getting pull apart under load. i like doing two links, both welded to the mount mount so it was one unit.
