I just recently picked up a rzr xp1000 I wanted to get somthing I can take out and not worry about always being a project simply because I have maxed out the space I have and I'm only 19 but this is my first one I've owned and I was wondering what people do to prep there toys for the desert season and what people pack for just day trips I keep my 4Runner full of tools and fluids so I can use that to recover if I end up breaking down on the trail but I'd also like to keep some tools in the rzr so what are yall doing for storage because there's not to much room on the 2 seater especially and what tools specifically for rzrs do yall recommend to keep on hand I've got a belt replacing kit but anything else?

Not much of a SxS guy but a few ideas for you.

Tool rolls are handy- have the sizes needed for standard stuff (axles, tie rods, belt change, etc)
Belt and tools to change it
Spare axle is good to have on hand or keep in the truck- break often

I know some companies make some cool kits that either enclose the bed area for secure trunk space, or make mounts for packout style deals. Or tool bags and secure them inside the bed.

You can't deny the RZR fun factor. Just need to bring some soul and don't trash the land and blast music I don't like (wear Rugged headsets). I started with a Rhino, have a Turbo S still and say grow your bag and tool roll as you work on it. A small metric specific socket set will do but have a 19 for your wheels and the spline key if needed. Lots of Torq bits. T40 for the panels. Ironically 1/4-20 for the clutch. I keep random bolts, tow strap, fuel siphon hose (try not to carry gas) cheap air compressor and plug kit. Spare belt but I don't go thru them, even at the dunes.

thanks for the recommendations (from some
Of you) 😂 on the not having a soul part I would love a proper rig but I have to fit a 21ft boat and my rzr fits with about a foot on each side in a 3 car garage and the boat needs to be diagonal to fit because it's a very shallow garage and my driveway is a straight downhill slope I have to do all my work on the side of the house in the street my plan is once I move out gonna use the rzr to trade for a little ranger or another Toyota and I've got a buddy who does off-road racing (class 12 buggy) so he's taught me the importance of respecting the desert

this thread has a ton of good info about what people pack

Off top of my head. pretty much the same as any offroad truck

Radio
Tools
Belts (dont those things throw belts all the time )
Tire plugs
Jack
Spare tire
Water
Tow strap
Soft Shackles
They have those little ski sled thingys if you delete a corner that could be useful to get you back to trailer
Water
maybe some food
Look at upgrading cage down the line.

Have fun and be safe don't shoot your eye out. Those things are crazy fast and can get you in trouble in a hurry.

This - prepping a SxS is pretty much the same as a truck, just smaller. Check the heim/spherical bearings in the trailing arms and radius rods, bushings in the front, shock eyelet bearings, make sure the shocks arent blown up. Although, a cage would be #1 on my list as far as mods go, those XP1k cages make me feel funny in ways I dont like. Make sure the fluids are swapped, clutches are clean and smooth - no ridges/notches or anything on the sheaves. Other than that, pretty reliable little rigs, if you do the clutching you shouldn't blow belts often at all. There's some weak points in the chassis on these things, but if you are even the slightest bit capable in fabricating, you can get rid of them easily enough, part of the reason I stripped my XP Turbo down to the chassis, although I also wanted to paint it.

As much as I like trucks, doing parts dev. and the different performance levels you can go to, the performance/value ratio is unbeaten with the SxS, thats why theres sooooo many of these damn things out there, its the same reason some people clown on raptors, theres a bunch of them out there with incapable drivers.

I need this sticker to put on my XP Turbo, or maybe just have it transformed into a full wrap......
Can relate. I've had complete disgust for SxS people while sitting in my SxS.

Brought the Turbo S to KOH a couple years ago - mainly for toyhauler comfort. I was posted up at the top of Chocolate Thunder mid day just for phone signal when a cool Suburban cruised up and the kid passenger gave me a bird. I owned it and brought the Bronco this year. Slept in the camper shell but no ragrets.

The duality of being too broke to build a truck, but having enough money to build a SxS.........In reality, I could build my 07c Sierra for what I can sell my XP for since I'm building my own LT kit, leaf spring setup and get dealer discounts on parts, but then I lose my work truck, and I refuse to go out and finance a diesel (or anything really) while I'm growing the business.

So true. Plus we're street legal here in AZ and I can ride out of the garage to trails the wide boy Bronco just don't fit.

Yeah, one thing I've realized over the years and having to use my truck to recover broken stuff, AZ trails definitely do not favor full size rigs, my jeep does ok, its just slow and rides like a brick, hence the reason I'm designing a new chassis and suspension for it.
