Local Legend The sleeping Taco

I also wanted to make the upper mount pretty damn strong with the thought that in the future I could do a 4-bar 4-link and use the same shocks and mounts, just add coils.

This thing is pretty alright... can confirm this guy is a nut case.

Hey man I apologize for not getting back to you, I must have missed it. I like the camper sleeper build!

I’ve been digging around trying to find build specs on this. I have a 2003 double cab and after seeing this in a video I needed this rear suspension. Only difference is I was talked into h70’s and starting to get everything to fit now.

I'm going to probably be adjusting my rear leaf springs after riding in this truck. The rear is super soft and he really is letting the shocks do the heavy lifting. Probably going to experiment with less leafs on my packs soon.

(not to steeeel dis thread but.......)

I FUCKING LOVEEEEE THE CAMPER WITH THE SPARE TIRE/TAILGATE DELETE!
I have ALWAYS thought about how that would look with a setup like that. Annnnnnd, you have verified..... it in fact does look badass! haha

PS. i love the wheel color!

2uz? I currently have a 3vz and was planning on the 5vz swap but I like this idea more as long as it’s not much harder of a swap. Anything worth noting that might be difficult?

So here is how I sum it up, is it fucking awesome and am I super super happy with it? Yes, would I do it again? Probably not. I am way more money into this swap than I even want to admit, and it was a huge pain in the ass to do. It would not be done without the guys from rock solid designs helping me finish it up. If I could do it over again, I would either put a super charger on the V6 or have put an LS in it.

This is exact response I was looking for. I’m about to start my build soon, which is going to be a simple, comfortable, mildly capable prerunner. The 3vz leaves a lot to be desired, the 5vz is a relatively simple swap and I’ve had one before and was happy “enough” with it. This build being 4x4, I want a little more power but not at the cost of being down for long. Supercharged 5vz looks like the route I’m taking. Thank you!

I got a 5vz rebuilt a year ago from my neighbor’s machinist friend that I’m not using - the machinist got COVID and my neighbor took the short block and installed the heads himself but made a few mistakes I caught within a few moments on getting it back. Lost interest in a further tear down on it to check his work. If you are interested, I’ll give it to you for free pickup in Downey. DM me for more info / pics / I’ll answer any and all questions you have. Comes with intake and exhaust and things like AC / PS / ALT brackets.
