This was a little unsettling at the deepest part of this little mine

Everyone pretty much got it covered with their pictures. Mine are mostly of my wife and Hank lol. I'll drop a few here.

Overall it was an incredible trip. Chelsea isn't an offroader or camper at all, and she hasn't been able to grasp why I love it so much (she's only been to a couple Clean Dezert events where she doesn't know anybody or get to build connections to people). Thankfully that all changed this trip. She had so much fun hearing the banter over the radio, talking around the campfire, seeing the killer views and destinations, and the relatively mild trails were good for easing her into what the trucks are capable of.

A common sight for Friday... 103* temps, 30mph tailwind, and a constant grade all worked against me.

Saturday evening we had a hard time finding where to camp to avoid a miserable, wet, windy night. Found a spot along the river, got camp set up, and then it started howling and pouring anyways hah! Made a little shelter with the RTT overhanging off the back of the truck, used the cover to block the wind, and brought the camp table and heater underneath so I could grill burgers. Chels and Hank took it like champs!

@the bodj Chelsea and Hank handled the trip like veterans. Always great when a early trip leaves a good impression as to how future trips could go vs the opposite. Luckily for the ladies Lances route had plenty of mostly official bathroom spots. I appreciated not having to hike and dig as well.

Definitely! She did as well hah. I bought a collapsible toilet before the trip and we never had to use it.

Thanks for setting this up and leading the whole way Lance. My son had a blast and has already called shotgun for the next one. I wish I didn't have to baby a 3 legged Jeep around the whole time but was still able to enjoy the route. Having the boys run off as a pack sure was handy for setting up camp, thank you all for raising good kids and bringing them out to have fun.

To pick up where my last post left off... We headed into Big Pine to fuel up and reload on supplies.
I can still hear the radio banter about the unfavorable views

In the truck section... To my disappointment, they didn't not have any red brake light tape haha.. Little back story since @sdecurti was in the powerwagon going slow he was on full chase truck detail... We installed the tow bar and tow lights in the bed... Which I gingerly installed in the corner of the bed thinking...those are going to be totally fine back there for 200 miles of dirt. Wellll as it turns out the Power Wagon rides just like a covered wagon. Well long story short... The Red lense/Housing for said lights have left the chat haha... I came back out joking about it is as @4lowlance and the gang were reloading coolers... @SByota is like wait a second. goes into his truck and pulls out a red sharpie..

shits Mint! And as it turns out he's a cop so it's like double legal.. good for another few thousand miles.

We pointed it north toward Bishop the Law Train Museum... first Bodj had to add oil into the S10
I used the free time to get some glamour shots of the mouse with the Sierra in the background.

I was pretty stoked on these...so was snapping a bunch of photos with my phone.. There was a call out of the water crossing which we hit no problem just as we crossed. @Motiracer38 radioed in that he lost a coil spring. He was quite a ways back. So I decided to put it in reverse and back up to the water crossing to check it out with C.

Was cool how the clean water from the stream was flowing into the trail crossing. photo does really do that justice but you get the idea.

At this point. I had lagged quite a bit dicking around take photos ( as I tend to do )
It was time to drop the Hammer... To catch back up with Lance and Bodj...And that we did... Mach Jesus was engaged and was going flawlessly until it wasn't. Was going pretty fast.... tried to check up in time but ended up hitting the water crossing with a bit too much zest... maybe 1/3 of the way through... truck just died. she was dead in the water haha... I look over at Connor and said something like " Well, that's not good!" haha

Conor replies "what are we going to do, Dad!?"
ME: Dont worry bud, we'll figure it out?
Connor as he grabs my phone off the dash mount: "I'm Calling MOM!"

I radio in "uh soooo yea boys. I'm completely dead in the water. Literally "

WHAT!

Me: Yea, pretty sure sucked some water into the motor. haha

time to go swimming.. Im pulling my shoes and socks off as @Endless Trails is coming up with a scheme to pull me out without me haveing to take a dip.

I was like No it's going to be fine haha I'm going in. Stepped out of the truck ...it was up to my ankles lol

53658725879_4d649246e2_b.jpg

Bodj turned around pulled me forward with my winch cable. We pulled the hood off to assess the situation the filter was soaked. Pulled that off. I was trying to start it before everyone caught back up to me...The batteries on the mouse are pretty shitacular (going to be updating that soon) before we did anything I wanted to try my battery jumper to see if it would go with that drenched filter off. I think 2 or 3 cranks it Fired... sound rougghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Let it Idle for maybe 15 -20 seconds and it began to sound like its regular terrible self. lol

22re lyfe boys!

KenVP had the genius idea to blow the filter out on Shanes exhaust... he put it over the muffler gave her a little limiter. He said water was bubbling out haha .

reinstalled the partially dry filter/hood we pressed on. probably were only stopped for 25 -30 mins with the whole ordeal.

53698372872_c9096d5d9c_b.jpg

We ended up on a few dirt roads that had canals running next to them...
53699267101_5368f6975c_b.jpg

We pulled up for lunch... the W was Gale force. We used the trucks a wind block and made the most of it.
Next stop was Law Railroad Museum

Unreal views. We check a few camp spots but nothing really ended up looking that promising. The wind was howling and temps were in the low 40s. raindrops started to fall. We decided it would be best to drop back town toward Bishop at the lower elevation for better temps
