Spring Rate Help With Math!

So if you run the same weight on both springs, you should run equal length springs? Or can you run the same weight but one shorter and one taller?
the length of springs is really there to prevent coil bind at a given pre load and shock travel. if you want to engage your lower very early and you have a lot of up travel you need a lower spring that has enough travel in it to achieve that goal before blocking out, if you want to run on your dual rate more you will need an upper that supports enough travel. Each system is a little different in what they require, a front a arm truck will want something completely different than a 1:1 ratio rear set up.

TO CLARIFY having the same upper and lower spring rate is still dual rate a 300 over 300 is a 150 combined rate that crosses over or stems up to 300, the lengths of upper and lower will be determined on what you are trying to achieve and what shock package you are running
