Might probably already be in your engine cage plans, but at least box in the motor Mount frame perches - they fold if you take a big hit even with a 6 cyl.
Yes sir, plan was to add a center rib to the frame perch and box it in.
The bigger challenge will be making the engine cage main tubes wide enough to get this huge DOHC 90° V8 out…
Put in the stock radiator just to see what kinda clearance I have…not much 2”ish. The fancy EBay radiator I got has an extra core, but the mounting flanges are the same width. That means I can use this crusty old one for mockup and not worry about banging up my new one.
2” of clearance, fan is 3” deep. I need 1.5-2” more depth…..sadly an ongoing theme in my life.
What’s one more thing to fabricate?!

Fancy Camaro Spal made fan on the new radiator. Mounting it and making it modular took way too long.
I trimmed the core support some more and a quick test fit tells me that this unit is going to work, with only like .5” of clearance. Clearance is….clearance.

Mill’s forward and reverse switch decided to die while I was using it to tap……worse possible time. Got that swapped out with one on China’s best drum switches. Wiring was totally different. Got it figured out without melting anything or burning the house down.

Sometimes is 2 steps forward, 7 steps back. That little protrusion on the fan pulley locates the fan, the mechanical fan I can’t use. I have been fighting it and decided it needed to go. I had to pull a ton of stuff of the front of the motors to pull it off. A couple of tack welds with the tig torch, 2 min with a grinder and it’s gone.
The radiator actually fits now, albeit very close to everything. Now to build the new radiator mounts. Then I can figure out plumbing, fuel, air intake and engine cage. It’s wild how one thing can hold back so much.

Hammering away on this engine swap. Exhaust was a real bitch, but the hard parts are all done. Not a lot of room between the manifolds, frame, steering etc. It’s all squeezed in there now. Dual 2.5” into a single 3.0. Probably won’t have a muffler at KOH, will probably need ear plugs.
Tundra front driveway will fit perfect. Will only have to modify the rear one.
Also very sketchy hole saw setup on the mill. It worked though, butthole puckered the whole time. 3” hole saw through stainless 2.5” exhaust tubing.

I might have a magnaflow that can work for you. I’ll measure tomorrow. If it works you can have it
Got a little time today to work on it. Set up the intermediate driveshaft in the lathe. I have to shorten it about 2.5”. Toyota used these funky swedged ends, so I can’t just put the yoke back on. Ordered up some DOM for a little sleeve, of course it’s a weird size, so I’ll have to turn it down. What’s one more thing?!
Tried to finish the exhaust, then this happened. Of course it happened on a Sunday. Poor planning on my part, I knew it was close, but though I could get one more day out it. Sadly I was wrong.
