I currently carry spare front and rear wheel bearings, seals, lock washers, and spindle nuts.

If a snout fails, the caliper would assuredly get destroyed as well. So either I carry a spare caliper or just cap it off if the truck doesn’t get yardsale next time I break a snout.

These uprights and snouts have been a fucking nightmare since I made them. I’ve welded cracks many times, and I am looking forward to shitcanning these bitches after this season. For now, I want a sensible and quick path to getting the truck driving again.

Just need to quit ruining all the fancy metaluragistic magic by welding and install a bolt on snout. Impressive that the snout material failed but it's clear to see that it started in the HAZ and may have been cracked for a bit seeing the multiple ripples before the ultimate failure. Six 5/16 A574 bolts are stronger with more flexibility than the HAZ 4340 you have there.

I like how fast you're moving though, I wouldn't have even washed it yet.

Machined new rear bushing housing from 2.0x.250” wall DOM (no 4130 on hand—sorry guys.

I approve of this. Throw on those bolt in snouts, run your OEM D44 hubs, and rock n roll the rest of the season until you build your new spindles with big boy hubs/snouts

I think so. I haven’t had a ton of idler arm problems. Couple smallish cracks here and there, but that fucker certainly wasn’t cracked before I hit the rock outcropping of infamy

I should have heard it but I was busy listening to Swedish folk music (inga kinga) in my speedos and was unable to hear such things. I just came up to tire laying in the road and the Turboyota doing the gangster lean. It was funny seeing Ryan trying to climb through the window before realizing the nogo zone due to his voluptuous physic and had to leave the chat through the passenger side.
