I think I’ll post this here since I am building this 02 sequoia to be an adventure suv for the family and take them camping but I think all the cool kids are calling it overlanding these days.

At the moment it’s mostly stock other than an oversized 285/70r17’s.
This week my adjustable billi 5100’s will be here to help with the little bit of rubbing that I have. Also I have the plans to order a rear locker once that tax man pays up.
The plan at the moment is to just keep it cheap while I’m gathering parts to swap in a set of super duty axles that I have.

Step 1 (into participating in this "Overlanding" community): Buy Max Trax and mount them to your rear side window.
Step 2: Buy rotopax and mount them to your other side window.
Step 2b: Start Youtube channel. Name it something like "Overland EXXXtreme" or "Finding Myself Over-yonder-lander"
Step 3: Go old school and buy/mount 50 straight light bar
Step 4: Widdle wadder mounted on back hatch
Step 5: Small shovel mounted
Step 6: RTT on top
Step 7: Awning
Step 8: Small propane bottle on back
Step 9: Full built in rear drawer system. Make sure to remove 2nd and 3rd row seats. Must include pots, pans, kitchen sink.
Step 10: $20K suspension upgrades is optional.

- The key to "overlanding" is how it looks to others that you overland. Not actually how fun it is.
- Remember the more money you spend on widgets the more internet points you earn.

I do enjoy the game of how much shit can I pack in this 10lb bag 😆

Welcome dude!

Make sure you get some lockers in those axles so you don't end up like my dear friend @Motiracer38

Awe man 😂😂 That build is one that drove the inspiration to do solid axles but I’ll make sure the lockers are the first parts to be purchased lol

If he had a Nickle every time we are on the trail ( all 4 times it's been out ) we said, "man if this thing had lockers you'd be unstoppable." He could probably by said lockers.

I only have 6, sort of 9 but it is a truck and the sink is a plastic tub, and 10 maybe 6k in suspension (maybe 10k if you count gears and lockers).
Yours sounds like more of a Toyota specific list so you forgot. Step 11: buy Baja Designs full catalog of lights all in amber. Step 12: Turn on all lights if it is anything other than full sun out, or fuck it turn them on then too.

I grenaded 3, 8.4 diffs in my tundra before I supercharged it and stopped breaking diffs. You know, because I have not finished the install and tune.

Seriously though, plan to get a decent diff or swap the axle.

Sean

Ooof! I think for the 40s I wanna run the diffs will not be up to the task
The 8.4 diff actually has survived his 35's and questionable wheeling for a couple years. It's not in the budget so another take out 8.4 is going in. It's been a great rig with 250k miles and keeps on going - until last weekend. Yours on 40s and tons will be awesome - hope to see the build here!

The Billie’s have arrived.
I went with the 5100’s because this rolling refrigerator is pretty heavy. I’ve always liked the valving of them and 6100’s eat into the budget while I save up the money for gears, lockers and 40’s for the tons.

I’m the sequoia in question here, I’m really surprised that the 8.4 gave before the front diff did but it’s definitely got me tossing around the idea of one tons… goes back to the saying “kiss” though😂
