Photos from your last ride.

Rode sunday for first ride of the year. Had a little break in the rain so headed over to one of the local trails that is actually still rideable in the rain.

Was drizzling a little but but not bad. Got to the top of space it started pouring haha trail was a straight up creek. There was nothing I could do other than laugh at how drenched I was. Was in survival mode hit a little sender landed in a rock garden and burped the rear about halfway down mtn haha. Probably about 2 miles from the truck still. Pulled off under a tree and put some air in it so it was ridable Made it down the rest of the way back to the truck. Had to strip down into just my bibs for the ride home haha

Tires on the EVO are pretty smoked so going to swap them out.

Good times
1900' of climbing in 8 miles is quite the slog there!

Didn't stop for pictures, but I rode Dos Vientos this week and last week. Both were short rides as they were after work. I can't wait for the time change on Sunday to get an extra hour of daylight after work!

My legs should be back by next week. I typically have my bike with me Tuesdays in NP if you want to meet up somewhere.

woof... thanks again for the heads up on Colossus... Changed the ride to Space tonight if you wanna try to get in the mix

No problem. I want to get out there and ride with everyone, it's just easier for me to ride right after work when there's daylight and before the baby's bedtime. Leaving at 6 makes it harder to get away.

Brought my bike to ride after work yesterday. Drove to dos vientos and got geared up to find I forgot to switch my flats back to clips. No worries, I’ll just wear my flat shoes… nope. Took those out of the truck. Whatever, I’ll ride in my work tennis shoes. Went to check tire pressure and found the shoulder of the rubber was damp with tire sealant. It was cracked enough that it started seeping out. Packed up and headed home and put on the new set of butcher and purgatory tires I ordered the other week. Was trying to get one more ride out of the old ones, but it wasn’t happening. Brought the bike back to work today for round two.

This might be my new favorite big loop. Johnson Motorway and Side Action are both great trails. Johnson is fairly chunky and fast. Enough to keep you on your toes and reward line choice, but not really any "I almost died" moments. Kind of like a tamer Suicide.
I did a little extra exploring and missed a turn. It would probably be closer to 20 miles if I did it direct. It was almost 29 miles from my front door last time. The top of Rocky Peak was looking good. I would probably start there if I was analog.

Down in east county SD over the weekend in Pine Valley for a church retreat. Wife suggested I bring the bike down, so I got in an early morning ride before breakfast on Saturday. Beautiful loop with one of the most fun, flowy, chunky downhills I’ve ever ridden. Nice 7 miler with low elevation gain, felt good after being off the bike a few weeks.

A couple other buddies randomly brought their bikes as well, so we planned to sneak away for an hour the next day. A couple miles of the ride was along a dry river bed that parallels the main road, hits a dirt parking lot, and the trail really begins from there. About 150yds from leaving the dirt lot, my chain snaps. Both guys are on e bikes, so one of them cruised back to camp and got his truck to pick me up. Bummer, but at least I got one ride in!

I wasn't feeling it when I got off work, but @dwphoto quote of "if you are going to quit something this year, quit being a bitch" hit me. So I went exploring up the fire road behind Dos Vientos. Of the end of a dead end power line spur I saw what is essentially a steep rocky hiking path. Magic of the E-bike is putting it in boost and making some of the impossible into possible. Until I got to here...

I hiked to the top to see where the trail went and I was rewarded with this view to the ocean over Camarillo. I think there is a second route up that might be "rideable", so I need to go back at some point just to do it.

There is something peaceful about being up on these cliffs looking down on the 101. Growing up we used to be able to ride our motos up here through a few different ways. one being a sketchy ride through the guys ranch that became the Dos Vientos housing development. He didn't appreciate trespassing and would let you know with salt rock loads. There was a short period between the ranch being sold and the houses being built that we could get trucks back there to play on the open space. So the last time I was up here was in my 92 Bronco. There a a few rock fields up here, and I hand found a short line that I could crawl through. I took a buddy up to show him and of course broke a u joint in the TTB trying to get up a big step. So we came to the ultimate destination of the cliffs in 2wd and sat with a few Budweiser's watching the traffic and the sun setting.

I didn't take any pictures as there wasn't really evidence of it anymore, but there used to be a track up here used by at least two pros from Newbury Park as their local practice track. One was Pete Snortland who raced in the golden age of Bob Hannah, and the other was Eric Hilton who was a year older than me and raced supercross in the late 80's into the early 90's. Some of my friends would buy his "last year" practice bikes so there were a lot of YZ 125s riding the hills.
