Ok, I’m home, unloaded and exhausted.
Trip report:
Walker and I left home at 3pm Thursday with Jordan and Jaxon.
I had barely met Jordan before. His son Jaxon and my son Walker are friend at school and I knew Jordan had a newer jeep on 35s.
I texted him an invite weeks ago with minimal details and he was “in” from the beginning. His only and I mean ONLY question was what we used for coms. My man.
My dad had left Ojai around 8am in his raptor and picked up my cousin Durand along the way. They got a flat tire on his 2019 raptor on the way up. Quick fix and they got to Briggs camp about 2:30.
The upper (larger) cabin I was hoping for was taken but they secured the smaller “stone cabin”
Walker, Jordan Jaxon and I grabbed a quick dinner in Mojave. Somewhere outside of Ridgecrest Brian and Seth
@Motiracer38 caught up to us and chimed in on the radio.
We all 3 got fuel in Trona as the sun got low.
Brain was smart enough to air down in Trona so while Jordan and I aired down at the Ballarat turn off Brian and Seth started the climb up to Briggs.
Jordan’s offroad experience was limited to fire roads, Pismo beach and some other mild trails.
He was in for a treat as the horizon turned dark, we flipped on lights and started the very steep climb to Briggs. It was a pretty intimidating climb in the dark considering the length of our relationship (about 4 hours total at this point

)
By 9PM at lower Briggs we had
my dad
Myself
Jordan
And Brian.
The cabin has a great solar and light system so we all sat on the patio having a drink getting to know each other and enjoyed the beauty and remoteness of the canyon.
@SByota and Tiny left home at 5am Friday and were at camp by 9 am.
Pic of my dad cooking breakfast in the cabin
Walker and Jaxon played some board games at the dining room table.
We started as a group farther up the canyon, passed “chicken rock” onto the “South Park loop” then connects to Pleasant Canyon.
The trail gets very skinny. My dad, Jordan and I headed back to hang at the cabin while Brian, Seth, Brad and Tiny made the 5 hour loop.
mid afternoon my Buddy Paul showed up in his TTB van with his 2 daughters Grace and Emma.
Along the way he found
@Ckuebert who was moving slow trying to keep his transmission from over heating.
By 4pm Friday everyone was back at camp, some PewPew and plink plink occurred to keep the kids entertained. Thanks Brad for serving as range master (and putting targets strangely close to my truck!

)
