Health/Fitness

sleep is never a problem. But i have started to wake up at 5am instead of 6am and every morning i want to kill someone when that alarm goes off. lol

I think the hardest thing for me is the marathon... I want to see instant results and if i dont then i feel like its worthless. Also sad news is i tried to jog a bit last night on my walk and realized holy fuck i am fat and had a hard time... now my thighs burn this morning. lol Guess its all part of the process. But its crazy that in my mind i can still run and am young... but then i try and do shit and realize i am fucking terrible.
you should tell ray to join the forum.

Last time I went on a weight loss binge, I essentially ate only chicken and ground beef for about 2 months straight while weightlifting every morning. I went from 230lbs to 180lbs with little to no strength loss oddly enough. I dont recommend it though, by some miracle I've been able to keep the weight off for 4 years since I did it, but statistically most people wont when they do what I did. One big thing that has helped is that I've stayed with the daily weight training, I also mountain bike and ride my KX pretty frequently, and when I do, I typically try to ride pretty hard.

do you guys use any apps to track your food/diets?
Also where is best place to see what food are good/bad to eat?

I keep hearing the Keto diet is way to go... but then see that you shouldnt eat apples and bananas, which i always thought were good.

I used to use myplate, they shut the app down so I went to myfitnesspal, but recently switched to macrofactor, still seeing if its any better. Just be aware to get full functionality out of either you will have to pay a subscription.

OP, (sorry, don't know your name) are you on any forever meds after the heart attack? Statins?
yea i am. Blood pressure, blood thinners, chlostoral. statins have been a major pain in the ass. I have pretty much tried them all, as they caused so many aches and pains in all my joints. Currently take a shot which seems to be a bit better.

I use my fitness pal. I love it. It’s free and you can scan barcodes and it’s got mostly everything in there too. Easy to track macros

Dang, Sorry to hear that.

Statins is a whole nuther topic!

Really crazy how bad they for the body... And nobody really tells you the negative affects. I was having major issues and randomly stopped taking them for a month and felt like i was a teenager again... got back on them and could barely put on pants in the morning.

I used Carb manager years ago when I started Keto. Its a little tedious at first but once you get things entered in and tracked it becomes pretty easy

This was a solid book I read back in like 2018

Keto Zone Diet.

The best thing you can do IMO is educate yourself. Learning that (Carbs) Sugar is in fucking everything. It quickly becomes clear why everyone is sick and fat.

I am bias for sure but low carb high fat/protein diet is the way for sure. Prepare yourself for people to be concerned all of the sudden with what you are eating. The same folks that didn't say a word while you were slamming Monsters and deep throating corn dogs.

Lots of great advice so far. My suggestion is to find a sustainable diet. I’ve seen numerous people at work lose tons of weight doing keto or carnivore diets but they get burned out eating like that after 3-6 months. Then they slowly start eating carbs again and the weight comes back quick once your body is out of ketosis.

High protein, complex carbs, no sugars or alcohol and strength training is the way to go personally.

Staying healthy and in shape is hard no matter what stage you are at in your fitness journey. Just have to be real with yourself and know it has to be a lifestyle change or the results will be temporary or nonexistent. Anything sugar is not good, stay away from flour products, get plenty of protein, resistance training, walking and most important patience. Stay off the scale muscle weighs more than fat. Instead pay attention to how your clothes fit, not so tight by the belly but tighter in the right spots 😉. Not sure how old you are but no shame in taking it slow, don’t want to start too hard and burn out fast. Small adjustments a week like adding weights or certain exercises, removing certain bad foods from your diet, trying new healthy foods all add up in the long run. Best page I follow is @drjamesdinic on instagram.

I forgot one of the most important things drink lots of water!!! At least .5 ounce for every pound you weigh. Hydration is key to losing weight. Our bodies replace fat cells with water when losing weight. That is why we gain weight before dropping weight. So when we sweat or breathe heavy/fast we lose that water that has replaced those fat cells.

Download the phone app "Yuka". It allows you to zap the UPC symbol on your food packaging using your cell phone camera. It breaks down all the fucking chemicals in the food you're buying. Once I started reading all the chemicals they listed as "Hazardous" in there, I literally started throwing unopened food into the trash. Some of that shit changes your DNA. It's wild. That app is super simple and easy to you. It's an eye opener.

Also, stop using canola oil for cooking. That shit turns to plastic when you get it up to a certain temperature. I started using olive oil, beef talo and avocado oils for all my cooking. Hands down one of the best changes that I have made. Food tastes WAY better and I'm noticing I don't have a fucked up stomach as often.

more water. Dinner typically consisted of a ceasar salad "kit" with a can of costco chicken dumped in it. Or somek ind of chicken with rice and/or mixed veggies. Drink

Sounded like a good meal so I'm going to try it.

Edit: A little too salty but I can lower the amount of dressing next time. Besides that ,it tastes great. Would recommend.

Sunday weigh in. still have a day of my 7 day plan with Arbonne. I am down 11 lbs right now. Basics of the plan are 16 hrs of fasting / 8 hr eating window. Break the fast with a protein shake. Then eat as normal within the window. The kit has a different shake mix than what they sell in bags. It has turmeric and some other stuff that is supposed to help cleanse. It also has a Mactha tea with MCT to help with the fast in the morning and a probiotic that you take after dinner.
I got two wisdom teeth out 02JAN so I haven't been eating real healthy when I am eating. Lots of soups and mashed potatoes. I plan to switch to a more chicken breast based diet now that my mouth is healing and I can somewhat eat solid again.
I am going to transition into their 30 day plan but keep on the intermittent fasting more or less. The 30 day plan is a common allergen elimination diet with two shakes a day / one healthy meal. On days off work I blend berries into my shakes to make them a little more of a meal. Work days is just shaker cup and water.

This is a very generic guide to the elimination diet. Goal is low glycemic and non-acidic diet without the common allergens. I will probably keep coffee to help with the awake fasting window.

I second the no canola or seed oils. They do turn into a hard polymer (plastic) around 400 degrees, which also smokes a ton in the kitchen and grease stains pans lol. I bought a gallon of “olive oil” from Costco and finally ran out. Stupid bottle says, in very small letters, “canola oil made with some (giant letters) OLIVE OIL” so you think what you’re buying is olive oil. Watch what you get. Apparently unless it’s made in Greece or Italy it is most likely not olive oil

So i was a bit dreading this weekend heading to the desert with friends, as we always eat a ton of shitty food. But i feel somewhat accomplished. Salad and steak friday night, saturday night burger patties without buns, and just eggs and some bacon for breakfast. No energy drinks or soda. did have a smore though... oops.

Going into the week feeling pretty good right now. Salad and chicken for lunch.
